Meet Detective Edie Pillai! Edie approaches life heart first with a baked good in hand. Her empathy and belief in people act as her greatest strength and weakness in her line of work. While other grizzled female detectives’ trauma manifests in binge-drinking and chain-smoking, Edie’s pain over her failure in a recent case shows up in her IBS and stress-baking.

The amazing Katherine Rogers @koolbeanskathy brings Edie to life with a warm, Yorkshire accent. She poured such heart, humor, and thought into Edie, and I can’t wait to for you to hear her performance!

I’m delighted to announce that my audio drama Soggy Bottoms will be coming to Spotify/Youtube next Friday, October 2nd! This murder mystery comedy takes my two loves, British whodunnit’s and The Great British Bake Off, and mixes them together into one delicious treat for your ears.

Our story begins when an elderly woman is found dead on a popular baking competition show. Most assume that it’s an unfortunate accident; however, Detective and baking enthusiast Edie Pillai believes that there’s a soggy bottom underneath it all.

Starring Katherine Rogers (@koolbeanskathy ) as Detective Edie Pillai, Michael MacLeod (@michael1429 ) as Detective James Jolly & Various Others, Sydnée Grant (@sydneegrant_ ) as host Mel & Various Others, and Cory Coogan (@dahcoogster ) as PA Louis & Various Others.

Edited by Alexander Gonzalez (@alexgedit ).

Cover Art by Gabbi Soong (@gabbisoong__ ).

It was such a joy to bring this to life with such an incredibly talented group of people. Since this is a self-funded project, it’s just the one episode for now, but hopefully it will get you hungry for more.

For optimal listening experience, enjoy with your favorite slice of cake.

Back in June, I had the incredible opportunity to sing at The Walt Disney Concert Hall.

As a new member of the nearly 140 voice SoCAL Chorale (music director Mary Lou Basaraba), we sang alongside of two other choirs, totaling 200 singers, with the Heart of LA Eisner Intergenerational Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Daniel Suk.

Such a wonderful ✨SOLD OUT✨ performance with so many talented folks!

March & May Angeles Chorale Concerts 💖

See…I told ya I am super behind on posting but in short, my first season with the @angeleschorale was incredible! Between meeting amazing singers, being led by the incomparable Lesley Leighton to singing several pieces with the wonderful associate conductor Angela Lin; this has been one of my favorite groups to be a part of.

Get excited for our 52 season coming this winter! ✨

I am so grateful to be part of the @angeleschorale. Do you know that singing with other people actually turns down the part of your brain that differentiates between you and not-you? So literally you lose yourself in the music and the experience. It is one of the many reasons I love to sing in a chorus.

If you missed this very special concert, you can stream it for free if you donate $35 or more to the chorale, which is a non-profit with a mission to engage, enrich and inspire our audiences, singers, and our diverse community by performing great choral music with a passionate commitment to excellence and to increasing access to and appreciation of choral music in greater Los Angeles.

Link in bio. Tickets available for our next concert!
