My collaboration with Koperdraadje is finally ready for her big reveal, and I am SO HAPPY with how she turned out!!

And do you know what she is?

Remember The Lorax? A thneed is something that EVERYONE needs because it can be worn in so many different ways!

Well, allow me to introduce you to the Atlas Shrug. 😇💅

A shrug! A wrap! A scarf! A cosy little whatever-you-need-her-to-be!

She’s versatile. She’s cosy. She’s covered in beautiful little tiles inspired by the traditional tilework of Évora, Portugal. 💚🤍

And she’s knitted in Koperdraadje Baby Fluff DK, 80% baby alpaca / 20% nylon, which makes her wonderfully soft and fluffy! 🦙☁️

ALSO! Imagine making this with every tile in a DIFFERENT COLOUR?! 😭🌈

The possibilities are making my designer brain VERY happy right now. 😂

The Atlas Shrug pattern is currently being prepared for publication, and I can’t wait to share it with you all! 🥰🫶

A little day out at the Nederlandse Breidagen in Nijkerk! 🥹🧶💕

From travelling to the festival to spending the afternoon at Lia’s Koperdraadje stand, what a LOVELY day!! 🥰

I got to meet so many of you in person, chat about knitting, show off my designs and spend time surrounded by people who love yarn as much as I do. 😭😂🧶

To everyone who came over to say hello, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! 🥹🫶

Thank you for your time, your kindness, your encouragement and all the support you’ve given me and Arly Knits. It really does mean so much to me. 💕

The Atlas Shrug has officially moved out of the development stage and into PRODUCTION! 🥹💚🧶

This little beauty is part of my growing Atlas Collection and is being created in collaboration with Koperdraadje, using their gorgeous Baby Fluff DK, an 80% baby alpaca / 20% nylon blend. 🦙

And that means it’s time to invite some more knitters into the process! 🥳

(English ⬇️) Nog even inzoomen op de Dazzling duo socks. Dat boordje met kabels is toch te leuk voor een herfstsok? En heerlijk om te breien voordat je je op het strepenpatroon stort. Dat breit helemaal als een trein, want hoe leuk is het als je aan een volgend kleurtje mag beginnen. Ik nam bij de kleurwisselingen de draad trouwens gewoon mee aan de achterkant, dat scheelt weer draadjes wegwerken achteraf. Het patroon beschrijft de shadow wrap short row hiel met een extra optie voor wat meer ruimte op de wreef van de voet. Daardoor zit jouw sok straks nog comfortabeler! Nou ja, ik zie geen reden om er niet mee aan de slag te gaan 😀. Alleen nog even kiezen met welke 2 kleuren jij deze kanjers gaat breien. Lia van @koperdraadje verfde een berg prachtig 50 grams sokkengaren. Bij aankoop van twee strengen krijg je het patroon er gratis bij. (Het patroon is niet los verkrijgbaar). Je vindt de link naar haar website in mijn bio.

Let’s take a closer look at the Dazzling Duo socks. That cabled cuff is just perfect for an autumn sock, isn’t it? And it’s a joy to knit before diving into the striped section. The stripes fly by—there’s nothing quite like the excitement of starting a new color. By the way, I simply carried the yarn up the back during color changes; it saves having to weave in ends later. The pattern features a shadow-wrap short-row heel, with an optional modification for extra room across the instep—making the socks even more comfortable to wear! Well, I see no reason not to get started 😀. You just have to choose which two colors you’ll use for these beauties. Lia from @koperdraadje has dyed a whole batch of gorgeous 50g sock yarn. Buy two skeins, and you get the pattern for free. (The pattern is not sold separately.) You can find the link to her website in my bio.

Did you know alpaca has a bit of a reputation for GROWING? 😅🦙🧶

Which made blocking my Évora Tiles Shrug particularly interesting. 👀

This yarn is Koperdraadje Baby Fluff DK, made from 80% baby alpaca / 20% nylon. Add all those colourwork floats into the equation and I genuinely wasn’t expecting dramatic growth anyway, but I needed to know before I committed to my final calculations.

And the result?

After blocking, my knitting grew just 1 cm in width and 2 cm in length. 🤯

For alpaca, that really isn’t much at all! And for me as the designer, that is VERY useful information because I can now move forward with my sizing and calculations much more confidently. 😇🧶

I just can’t help myself 🧶💙🩵🧶

A socktober collaboration between @sokken_van_pien and @koperdraadje ends up in a lovely pattern, 50 grams skeins handdyed yarn in many colours so you can make your favourite combination.
And mine ended up blue.

For now I may only touch and sniff them, because I have to finish my WIP’s first, but I’m OK with that.

📣 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

Do NOT wet block high-contrast colourwork. 😅

White + a dark colour + a nice long bath = potentially finding out just how colourfast that darker yarn really is. 😭😂

This might be completely obvious to some knitters, but it definitely isn’t obvious to everyone, and I would rather you learn it from this video than while staring at your newly pink/grey/blue-tinted white stitches in horror. 🥲

For high-contrast colourwork, I prefer to steam block instead. 🫶💕☁️

And as always, test your yarn first because different fibres and dyes behave differently!

(English ⬇️) Yessss 🎉! Socktober is vandaag begonnen en dus kunnen de Dazzling duo socks van @koperdraadje en Sokken van Pien eindelijk live 😃! We ontwikkelden ze speciaal ter ere van Socktober 2026. De Dazzling duo socks bestaan uit 2 sokken (dûh 😊) die duidelijk bij elkaar horen, maar niet hetzelfde zijn. De lange boord met kabels gaat over in een streeppatroon, waarbij de 2e kleur steeds meer naar voren komt, totdat de 1e kleur is verdwenen. De 2e sok brei je daarna omgekeerd. Je breit het kleurrijke duo met 2 strengen handgeverfde sokkenwol van 50 gram, waarvan je de kleuren zelf kunt uitzoeken op de site van @koperdraadje (zie link jn mijn bio). Daar ligt al een grote stapel in de mooiste kleuren op je te wachten 😍. Hoe leuk is dat? Zoek vooral een mooie contrasterend duo uit, is mijn advies. Het patroon (dat niet via andere verkoopkanalen verkrijgbaar is) krijg je er dan gratis bij. En hou je toch meer van 2 identieke sokken? Tot en met maat 42 kun je met de twee 50 grams strengen ook twee dezelfde sokken breien.

Yessss 🎉! Socktober has kicked off today, which means the Dazzling Duo Socks-set by @koperdraadje and Sokken van Pien are finally available 😃! We designed them especially to celebrate Socktober 2026. The Dazzling Duo Socks consist of two socks (duh 😊) that clearly belong together but aren’t identical. The long, cabled cuff transitions into a striped pattern where the second color gradually becomes more prominent until the first color disappears completely. You then knit the second sock in reverse. You knit this colorful duo using two 50g skeins of hand-dyed sock yarn; you can pick out the colors yourself on the @koperdraadje website (link in bio), where a large stack in the most beautiful shades is already waiting for you 😍. How fun is that? My advice is to pick a pair with nice, contrasting colors. You’ll get the pattern (which isn’t available through other sales channels) for free with your purchase. And if you’d prefer two identical socks after all? You can also use the two 50g skeins to knit a matching pair (up to size 42).
