(1) just a few minutes after arriving at arcosanti and pitching our tent......i received the news that my mom had passed away after over two years of brain cancer

(2) immediately i began to see her in the desert around me.
she was in the canyons and in the birds and the cacti that dance when you're not looking. at least that's what she said the cacti did.

(3) my husband and i came to form specifically to see lorde, but very quickly the weekend became about so much more than that. we met other lorde fans who we only previously knew online. every other form attendee was ready to chat about why they had trekked out to the desert for the weekend.
my family had just shrunk, but i wasn't alone. i have a lorde family, a form family

(4) i also felt my mom with me when i met ella.
a form guest and bartender encouraged me to wander around "backstage", and there she was! normally i am so nervous to talk to anyone i've heard perform or present (yes, even other scientists haha)
but not with ella.
talking to her was like talking to an old friend, and my mom was at my back the whole time.

(5) during the show, i sat with the ultrasound team, even more family! they were so kind and watching them gush over the performance was a treat.

(6) but as always, it was my lorde fan family that made this weekend sparkle. in the blue light, WE can make it all right.

(7) form ended early and muddy, but this weekend will always be with me. tell your people that you love them. ella i love you. lorde community i love you. every time we listen to this "fistful of tunes", we are family 💙

40 years old? All of this is Earned, not Given. Haven't been on a beach in over a year and had to slice a few hours to get on the ocean.

It was a wonderful time to link up with my California hippie spirit animal Kora. Now? I ready to get back into the mountains tonight.

Reflecting on these pictures of my body, I am just full of gratitude with building a life of movement. I have more scars and injuries to accurately count at this point, and still standing and moving.

What matters is that I am confident with this physique and I am happy with the results of hard work. Anyone uncomfortable with it is projecting their own insecurities and has issues within themselves.

If you are a woman, transwoman, man or any human... your body is a gift and a vessel for your mind and spirit. If you are broken, disabled, in the wrong body(trans) or healthy without an excuse. Take care of it, and realize it's potential.

0-10: I liked chocolate too much as a kid
10-20: Sports and started my Athletic Journey
20-32: Decimated my body with alcohol and tobacco
32-37: CompleteTransformation / Gender transition
37-40: Alcohol and Tobacco Free, Athlete again.

No regrets as I wouldnt be the person I am today without this wonderful journey through humanity.
