Annamaya Kala Cotton Pae-jamah — now also in the UK. Sustainability started here 🌱🇮🇳 Desert-grown Indian lineage — indigenous cotton that colonial trade policy tried to erase in favour of what could be industrialized and exported back to us. The Annamaya Pae-jamah is cut from that same cotton, grown in India’s own soil, on India’s own terms. They can copy the shape. They can’t copy the source. Sold out within days across North America — the response made clear this needed to reach further. Preorders are now open for both North America and the UK. Next batch ships October 12th. Black is coming too, by demand. Link in story. Book yours now. #ConsciousFashion #EthicalFashionBrand #SustainableStyle #SouthAsianFashion #handloomlove

Why celebrate sterile minimalism when color, print, and natural dyes represent so much more? 🌿 For over a century, the industrial fashion machine has conditioned us to view vibrant traditional colors as “chaotic,” and the natural fading of earth-based dyes as a “defect.” Meanwhile, mass-produced, chemically treated neutrals that poison our rivers are packaged and sold to us as the ultimate “quiet luxury.” Let’s redefine what classy and sophistication actually mean. Explore my looks in bandhini & vibrancy of Indian crafts and colours at femantraa.com/collections/koshavasas 🛍️ True sophistication isn’t a toxic, lab-made beige. True sophistication is the immense, laborious human skill required to create a garment. It’s the living, breathing nature of kacche rang—colors that don’t just sit on a fabric, but age gracefully into a rich, personalized patina. It is time to unlearn the industrial lies and “defects” we have been taught. A fabric that fades isn’t flawed—it is alive. What is a fashion “rule” or “defect” you are actively unlearning today? Let’s talk about it in the comments. 👇 #DecolonizeYourWardrobe #SustainableFashion #NaturalDyes #SlowFashionMovement #KaccheRang ConsciousClothing TextileHistory SustainableStyle UnlearnAndRelearn

Ghagra isn’t “vintage.” It’s not a relic — it’s living, breathing design. 🧵 (Part 2/2) The Swarupa Ghagra carries the same nefa-naara genius from Part 1 — but wrapped in centuries-old textile heritage. Cottons. Hand block prints. Resist-dyed techniques passed down as folk art, not trend. Woven in madras kattam — not printed — by karigars keeping a lineage alive that colonial mills tried to industrialize out of existence. This isn’t nostalgia. Ghagras are still very much part of Indian fashion today — and they evolved into what we now call lehengas. Indian fashion was never just a manufacturing backend and with Kosha Vasas collection at femantraa.com we are reclaiming our genius. India was always the fashion blueprint. They called it “balloon pants” and put it on a runway. We call it pae-jamah. And we never stopped wearing it. The Annamaya Pae-jamah isn’t chasing a trend — it’s the trend’s ancestor. Same adaptive naara system our grandmothers understood before “one size fits all” was ever a thing. Same Kala cotton the British called ugly and useless because their machines couldn’t touch it. You can buy “barrel-leg trousers” from a luxury house this season. Or you can wear the garment they were always copying. Which one is actually innovative? Comment “ANNAMAYA” if you want the link, and share this with the friend who needs to hear that their grandmother’s silhouette was never outdated — the world just caught up. #KoshaVasas #payjama #KalaCotton #DecolonizeFashion #handloomcotton IndianTextiles SlowFashion Indian fashion rules

Introducing the Sutra Kanchuka in Madras checks, reimagined the classic Indian kurti with a completely modular, adaptive design. You might have noticed this silhouette all over your feed lately. To me, it is the perfect modern adaptation of our ancient “kanchuka.” Historically, a kanchuka was one of the earliest stitched garments in India—a practical, tunic-like bodice worn by both men and women for everyday function and comfort. But what makes this version unique and truly Indian isn’t just the silhouette. It’s the handloom made in vibrant Madras checks, designed to reject standardized sizing and adapt to your body’s natural fluctuations. Here is how to make it work for you: 📌Adaptive Dori Ties: Cut purposefully extra-long so you can loosely wrap and cinch the garment front-to-back, accommodating your body’s natural fluctuations. 📌Custom Length: If the ties run too long for your frame, simply trim them to your perfect length. 📌Zero-Waste: Repurpose the excess trimmed fabric into a matching hair ribbon or a neck pendant. 📌Endless Styling: Pair it with a traditional pae-jamah, your favorite jeans, shorts, skirts, or wear it on its own as a dress. Functional, adaptable, and made to endure in heritage textiles. Explore the Sutra Kanchuka at femantraa.com. We have been conditioned to look in the mirror and apologize to our bodies for not “fitting into” an industrial standard. But before machines started dictating our silhouettes, we wrapped. Across India, Africa, and Asia, wrapping remains one of the oldest and most universal forms of clothing. And India has always wrapped with absolute genius. Our *doris* and *naaras* are not mere ties. They are a profound, modular design system that we have forgotten—traded in for the restriction of elastics and zippers. Introducing **Kosha Vasas**: a return to that forgotten science and a reclamation of our glorious roots. This collection removes the anxiety of standard sizing and returns us to the timeless wisdom of woven prana. We are reclaiming our genius garments—the *Ghagra*, the *Kurpasaka*, the *Kanchuka*—reimagined for the woman of today. It’s time to stop trying to fit into clothes that were never designed for your soul. It’s time to return to a culture that treats the body as a temple. Are you ready to heal your relationship with your wardrobe? The sanctuary is now live at the link in my bio. A small, hand-curated collection. No labels, no limits. Just indigenous science reimagined. 🔗 femantraa.com/collections/koshavasas . . . #SustainableFashion #SlowFashion #DecolonizeYourWardrobe #SizeInclusive #IndianHandloom Sustainable fashion, wrap clothing, modular clothing design, size inclusive fashion, Indian handloom, body neutrality, zero waste fashion, historical textiles, heritage garments.
