All of my life I’ve been fighting the good fight.
There’s some things I just cannot condone.

No matter the cost I keep standing for what’s right,
even if it means standing alone.

3rd Saturdays at Icehouse—powered by TruArtSpeaks—are a space for creatives, connection, exploration, and the celebration of Black music across the diaspora. We are immensely thankful to KOUZEN for coming through and carrying that message forward in July. And, we hope to see you all at PLAY on September 19th featuring another incredible lineup of artists.

I can’t imagine a life without art.

@muadwho was in the studio with @kouzen612 and I asked him to sing the chorus for me. He nailed it. @desdamonarox completely blew me away with her verse. It couldn’t have been better. @lllyricccc sent me her part right at the deadline, but I couldn’t have released the project without her on it.

The colors, the imagery, the sounds, the smells, the textures, the feels…it’s a vital part of our lives.

A life without art, isn’t good for the heart.

Melodic, lyrical, spiritual, and real! KOUZEN is coming thru the #UrgentSeries at Icehouse on July 18 with that 🔥🔥🔥. Tell the homies and get your tickets now via the link in our bio!

KOUZEN are Haitian born, US bred cousins; UnicusHarry and ADY. UnicusHarry, veteran of Twin Cities Hip-Hop scene with groups; More Than Lights/Kanser. ADY a Haitian poet/emcee, thinker and activist, wanted to collaborate. Kouzen with its bilingual style of english and Haitian Kreyol is reminiscent of The Fugees, it is part hip-hop and part spoken word. They are influenced by Hip-Hop groups like The Natives Tongues of the early 90’s, and other genres of music like Bob Marley and the Wailers, Fela Kuti, and Haitian band/artist like Boukman Eksperyans and Toto Bissainthe.
The world is changing and people are questioning different systems across the globe; Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of the KOUZEN journey.

2 weeks ago today! I had the opportunity to check out a local food drive event where I got to participate in my first open mic and witness a bunch of local artists!

It took place at this beautifully aesthetics black owned record store on University, if you support locally owned businesses and love music in any format? Check out "Urban Lights Music" 🎶🎧💿🎙✨️!

This event was organized and hosted by the lovely and creative @third_eye_girl_ and @chrismikejensen with my friend @ratliffxmusic dj'ing the event!

This event Reminded you what is replenishing for the heart and soul. Reminding you what people are capable of and reminding you what creativity is all about. I got to experience poetry, music and soul!

A lot of the artists I got to experience were:
@micdosmpls
@llundy93
@tharealmassickurthadob100
@Kouzen612
And so many others mentioned on the poster and more!

If you want to experience art, culture and community, check out your local events!
