Jabiru moments! 🤩🪶

Before heading out, I jokingly told Ángel, our driver, “We’re only stopping if we see a Jabiru!” 😂
Well… somewhere along the way, Ángel suddenly asked, “Isn’t that one?” And almost everyone spotted it at the same time!

The excitement was contagious! 😃
One of my favorite things about guiding is seeing how excited our guests get when they encounter birds like this. And honestly, that excitement never gets old for us either.
Jabirus are not particularly common in Bocas del Toro, but knowing where to look and keeping an eye on suitable wetland habitats can sometimes reward us with encounters like this one.
We don’t know if these are the same two individuals we’ve been seeing in the area, but we’re always happy to find them again. And hopefully, someday we’ll see more Jabirus using these wetlands. 🤍

Despite a swimmer charging at these grey plover (amongst other waders) - I was able to re-find them and get these photos! Always lovely to see such doe-eyed birds!

Photos taken at Balcomie Beach near Crail, Fife, Scotland - October 10th, 2026.

Audio description: A glam-rock song with piano, guitar, percussion, and triangle. A voice sings “’Ooh love, ooh lover boy, What’re you doin’ tonight?’ (Ooh, hey boy) Set my alarm, turn on my charm, That’s because I’m a good old-fashioned lover boy.”
Song: Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen

Audio description: A new wave song with a slightly drowsy overtone. The instrumentation is composed of sliding country-style electric guitar, bass, and drums. A voice sings “I see the shapes, I remember from maps, I see the shoreline, I see the whitecaps, A baseball diamond. Nice weather down there, I see the school, And the houses where the kids are, Places to park, By the fac’tries and buildings, Restaurants and bars, For later in the evening.”
