Over summer we heard there was a new Turkish in town, the newly opened Kozle offers Turkish fusion cuisine in a beautifully decorated restaurant right in the city centre of Newcastle opposite the train station.

• Hummus & Bread 🫓
• Halloumi 🧀
• Chicken Shish 🍢

All portion sizes were very generous including the starter dishes, we just asked for everything at once. My go to dish at a Turkish is the Tavuk (chicken) Shish , this was served with rice and house salad. The cubes of chicken were cooked and marinated perfectly, so juicy and tender and what’s better to go with the chicken shish then a portion of grilled halloumi 💁‍♀️ …

They have a lunch menu available 7 days a week from 12pm - 4pm offering 2/3 plates for a great deal ✨

Közle 📍Newcastle - we had the chicken shish and mixed grill and it was beautifully cooked, the meat was so tender and the portions were huge would definitely recommend to anyone it’s all cooked fresh and the staff were lovely friendly and professional

Last night we visited Közle and honestly… it was unreal 🤤

We went for the Silk Road Platter, featuring the Silk Road Grill selection with extra Persian lamb koobideh and tikka-spiced wings.

To start, we had hummus, beetroot salad and Turkish bread, then the platter arrived loaded with:

🍗 Chicken
🌶️ Adana lamb
🍢 Chicken shish
🍢 Lamb shish
🥩 Lamb chops
🍗 Chicken wings
🍚 Rice & salad

Every single bit of meat was so tender and full of flavour. I think the lamb was probably my favourite though — absolutely gorgeous 🤤

They don’t serve alcohol, but it’s BYOB, which is always handy 🍷

All of the staff were so lovely too and made us feel really welcome.

My only complaint… there was TOO much food 😂 We ended up taking loads home in a doggy bag, so definitely got our money’s worth!

@kozleuk for restaurant week 😍 I’m so happy I managed to catch their restaurant week deal which was 3 courses for £25. I had:
🫓Hummus and flatbread
🍗Chicken shish
🍰Triple chocolate cake

Safe to say I was STUFFED after all this. The portions were huge, I absolutely love this Turkish food as everything tastes so fresh - and the pickled salad is my fave 🤤🤤. This place has only been open a couple of months so definitely check it out if you’re in town and looking for some yummy Turkish food!

Newcastle’s food scene is getting even better, and there are SO many new spots popping up that need to be on your radar.

From organic food at Goods, Indian-inspired small plates at Jungli and live-fire dining at WYLD in Freight Island, to Mexican at Tia’s in The Gate and Turkish food at Kozlë… these are the Newcastle new openings I’m DESPERATE to try.

Kozle 🍖

This gorgeous Turkish fusion restaurant is a must try if you love juicy, grilled meats! The portion sizes were massive, loaded with salad and so much of the meat!

The meats are cooked over embers giving them such a great flavour! Amazing quality too! It was super fresh with a huge variety of flavours. I still can't get over how many of those massive king prawns I got!

It is BYOB or they have mocktails and soft drinks available to purchase.

We ordered:

Hummus Kavurma
Cacik
Halloumi

Silk road grill
King prawn grill

Dessert platter

#ad - invited: Situated at Clayton Street West, Newcastle @kozleuk is a Turkish restaurant offering small plates, grill dishes and platters to share -

Open 7 days a week 12-11 the name when translated means 'cooked over embers'. The food is marinated overnight with time and patience being the key ingredients before being cooked over charcoal; no flames or gas -

We were in the mood to try a little bit of everything and so opted for their lunch menu available seven days a week 12-4 which is perfect for those wanting to share -

The lunch menu consists of any two small plates for £11.95 or three for £14.95 served with Turkish Bread and House Salad whilst premium plates cost an additional £1.50 per head -

We choose six consisting of -
- Hummus
- Falafel
- Spiced Chickpeas
- Adana
- Chicken Shish
- Vegan Skewer
- Turkish Rice (£3.50)
- Baklava (£7.95) -
- Chocolate Cake (£7.95)

On the whole we did find the service a little slow in terms of both the food and drinks and were left waiting longer than we would generally expect. That said the quality and quantity of both were exceptional and did justify the slight wait -

The restaurant does not hold a alcohol licence and so allows you to bring your own subject to certain limits. We tried several mocktails and found them most refreshing and enjoyable; the perfect addition to the meal. Favourite being Silk Road Spritz which is peach anc raspberry topped with lemonade and topped with mixed berries to finish -

Got the girls together to go back to @kozleuk as we enjoyed it so much the last time we went.
We ordered a good few starters and a sharing platter for 2 between the 3 of us. With all those starters and bread, it was more than enough 😅
I would happily eat all their cold mezzes with a spoon 🤤 we couldn’t stop eating them all!
So impressed again for round 2, and the Turkish delight is always the best here!

Come with us for our second trip for restaurant week to Közel Three courses for twenty five pound

For starters we both went for
Saksuka - Fried Aubergine and Peppers in a Tomato Sauce (VE) Served with Turkish Bread

For mains
I got Vegan Skewer (Sebze Sis) - Grilled Portobello Mushroom, Aubergine, Tomato and Chilli
My boyfriend got Adana - Lamb Mince Seasoned with Turkish Spices, Skewered and Grilled Over Charcoal

For desserts we both got
Chocolate Cake - Rich, Moist Chocolate Cake Served with Madagascan Vanilla Ice Cream

Kozle Turkish Restaurant
What a delicious meal! The food at Kozle was delicious, with generous portions — definitely come hungry!
The staff were extremely kind and helpful and we really appreciated their advice on what to order. They made sure we didn’t order too much, which was so helpful considering the portion sizes!

One thing to be aware of — Kozle doesn’t serve alcohol; it’s BYOB. We weren’t aware of this beforehand, so we had to make a quick dash to Sainsbury’s! Definitely worth knowing in advance if you’d like a drink with your meal.
Overall, a lovely experience and somewhere we’d happily return to! @kozleuk
