Happy 6 months to the love of my life @arielle__gray ♥️ we head to New Orleans this week, so it’s only fitting to share our second line of love today. Come roll into our wedding cocktail hour with us, Pastor Blair leading the way (who married us and graciously accepted our request to lead the procession). So much love to all the musicians who made this moment after our ceremony so special.

Speaking of covers…which ones do you want to hear live? Dig deep…besides Sam’s mashup of Even Flow and Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough.

Thanks @ceejenj for writing “Arguably, the best part of Sea Hear Now festival is following the @oceanavenuestompers around” #seahearnowfestival #seahearnow

We’re never trying to be the best, just always trying to be different and put our own spin on the big hits people come to hear at @seahearnow 🤘🏼 Treating music competitively from the musician side can get a bit wacky (and a little toxic), but it’s still really nice to see someone make a post like that a week after the fest. Everyone in the band worked really hard this year, 👏🏼 it’s our big parade weekend in Asbury Park and feels like tradition after now 5 years.

New Orleans parades for everything, Sundays, Mardi Gras, funerals, you name it. Philly has the Mummers every New Year’s Day (the brass band tradition a lot of us Stompers came up in). Those cities know how to parade, and after last weekend, SO DOES ASBURY PARK! Between our time in NOLA and on 2st/Broad St Philly, we’ve learned a lot. Know your history and pay respect to it. Honor a song’s writer and their spirit. Treat a dirge like one of the special things music can do, helping grief transition into celebration. Serenade a member of the community down and out who needs to feel the love, and share the energy of the music with everyone in the second line (or in Philly, a mob of umbrellas and strutting).

Music. Is. Powerful. That’s what we’re here for.

We’d love to do more festivals putting our own spin on a parade and second line. Tag a festival you think we should play next. Btw - how cool does it sound navigating thru the Grand Arcade, it is the BEST feeling filling that building that means so much to us with music.
