Gotta make the best of those shitty situations 🙌🏼

An accidental incredible night in Lake Powell 🌌
——
Check the blazing heavens workshop link in my bio for some incredible workshops in lake Powell, one of my absolute favorite places in the southwest and some of the best night skies for astrophotography in the states!

Lost in the Labyrinth 💦

Not all who wander are lost, but we do get lost out here in the sense that we lose ego, stress, and burdens- There’s something about being in the presence of immense beauty, far away from everything, that’ll make ya feel like a human again. Like your soul shedded some weight. Vibrant hues of sandstone, emerald green waters, and epic views of the cosmos sure help with that!

Looking forward to warm nights sleeping under the stars and exploring the impressive canyon labyrinths of Powell.

2025 encore!
Actual footy ‘allegedly’ hinting that when we chase epic images it could actually be more about the process, the people, and the journey along the way…

Cheers to the off kilter drone shots, flickering timelapses, questionable golf swings, sleep deprived photographers on energy drinks, truckshacks getting stuck, memories made, and general Blazing Heavens workshop shenanigans!

Where are we going next???
Doesn’t matter… Can’t wait!

The greatest gift to receive is one that you didn’t ask for, didn’t know you needed, and hits home deeper than you ever imagined.

Adventure, at its root, is moving toward the mystery that is coming.
So I’m sharing these places in hopes they inspire you to travel slower,
step into nature,
be present,
and be where your feet are.

As you look under the tree, remember that the present is a gift. :):)

2025 was an incredibly challenging year of transition for me and I can’t thank @clanger_mcbanger enough for creating perfectly loose itineraries for so many of us to experience the wonder and mystery of the night sky.

Cheers to 2026 and reach out to me if you’re interested in joining our merry little band of misfits in 2026!
You don’t even need to be a photographer. :)

This summer I hosted a Star Party in Stanley, Idaho with the community of workshop friends I’ve made over the years, and this was the view from our campsite at Stanley Lake for 4 nights! 🤩

There’s something very special about sitting around a fire underneath the stars in a secluded mountain landscape! The lakes, rivers, peaks, great summer weather, and dark skies are pretty unbeatable. Idaho holds a very special place in my heart, I hope I can visit every summer for the rest of my life!

As an introvert loner-stoner type listening to heavy rock and playing videos games or reading alone often growing up, I could have never imagined I’d somehow have a career and lifestyle that is centered around connecting with others leading photography tours, trips, workshops, retreats, or whatever you want to call them! Adventures, for photography or the great adventure of life, are much more rewarding and less challenging when accompanied by great people 🙂

It’s been an absolute grind over the last year (10 years, really) but I’ve loved every moment and feel incredible fortunate that I get to create art and adventure for my own well/being, tourism brands, and most importantly get to inspire and assist other people looking to enrich their lives through adventures into the natural world, photography, and capturing the night sky!

Here are a couple random behind the scenes moments from man great ones this year! From road tripping with my parents, New Zealand, Australian Outback, and mostly the amazing deserts of the Southwest USA leading photography trips. Just feeling incredibly grateful for all the support and opportunities I have in my life, and thankful for my faith in God and how He has shepherded me down a much better path in life with lots of adventure, connection, and beautiful places and people ❤️

Reflections of the Swan.........

The Cygnus region of the Milky Way, referred to as the Swan, stretches endlessly over the expansive skies of Glacier National Park, and part of it is reflected in the lake's calm waters. The Cygnus region boasts many nebulae that are primarily rich in Hydrogen-alpha (Ha) gases, making them red. In this image, the North American Nebula, the Pelican Nebula, the Butterfly Nebula, and the Crescent Nebula are visible. The Dark Rift appears on the right of the frame, and the bright blue star mid-center above the Milky Way is Deneb.

Oceans, peaks, and skies,
each breath steals a thousand frames—
the road calls my name…

This was a whirlwind 12 month period for many reasons. I am super thankful I connected with the Blazing Heavens crew for the eclipse last April — that led me on a path to share with you some of the beauty of this world through my camera.

I never really expected to fall in love with astro photography… the challenges, learning, sleep deprivation, travel, starvation / Mt. Cook hunger strike, over indulgence, navigation, exhaustion, physicality, and exhilaration all rolled together. It’s like you’re ready for it to be over, and can’t wait to start the next trip.

Special thanks to @clanger_mcbanger and @imhoff.imagery for creating this adventure environment for us to experience.

Enjoy this @mallratmusic mashup of our shenanigans over the last year and cheers to all the photographers that I’ve met on the road - see you soon!
