Our entire pub family was saddened to learn of the recent passing of a true Wooden Nickel legend gone way too soon. Josh Quirk was many things— consummate bar professional, seasoned traveler, chalkboard artist par excellence, bearded curmudgeon. He had many opinions and he didn’t mind sharing them with you anytime you never asked. Whether it was from skipping your song on the jukebox, guiding you towards the latest craft beer he was passionate about, or going down a long late night indie rock rabbit hole, your experiences with him were always memorable, entertaining, and 100% genuine His knowledge was vast and his opinions were fierce, and our town of Hillsborough was lucky to have him around for as long as we did. If you knew him outside of work then perhaps you knew the carefully-concealed kindness lurking beneath that crusty grouch surface— always very generous with his time, quick to buy you a drink, an excellent listener, the best at connecting people from all walks of life There was no shift more synonymous around here with Josh back in his day than Tuesday nights. He worked several hundred Wing Nights, and loved the energy, chaos and community they’d bring. Always with a well-curated playlist to match his mood, not yours. So it seemed most fitting to us to offer one more Hillsborough Wing Night to y’all, to commemorate, celebrate and pay respects to our friend. We’ll do this the Tuesday after Memorial Day starting at 5pm, and we cordially invite all of you to join The kitchen gang’s bringing back a few vintage wing sauces we haven’t made in a decade or so, we’ll be rocking Josh playlists all night long, and familiar faces will be serving up lots of cold beers and half price wings. Tales will be told and memories will be remembered. A one of a kind evening for a one of a kind soul 🌼 @jaquirk @megoftheworld ♥️

2018 is coming to a close, and wow what a year it’s been! This year saw us move the pub up the road for the first part of the year, and then spend the second part of the year breaking it in and turning it into our new home. It took a lot of good folks to make that move happen, and we want to say thanks again to all that lent their time & talents to turn a former bank into the beautiful version of WNP that it is today. And then it took all of you out there to make this place truly feel like home, and from the first day we opened you embraced our new digs and filled it with the love, laughter, good times & bad musical choices that truly define what WNP means. . We’re open seven days a week for a reason- because WNP is only WNP if there’s people in here enjoying it, making it the neighborhood gathering place for our community and beyond. . 15 years. On 12/31, that’s how long it will have been for us, and that’s a pretty amazing number. Quite a few bars, pubs, and restaurants don’t make it to the 15 year mark, and we count ourselves lucky every day to have been able to do this thing for you here in Hillsborough for as long as we have. . So let’s celebrate that!! For this year, our 15th birthday on New Years Eve- we’d like to invite y’all to our birthday party! Our team of Chefs has gone all out to prepare an amazing celebratory dinner for you. Our esteemed bar crew will be here pouring out specials on bubbly all night long, as well as kicking off our Brewery of the Month with our dear friends @foothillsbrewing, who have given us tons of rare & exclusive beers to showcase. . We don’t get to do this kind of thing very often, and you only turn 15 once, right? So let’s make it a night to remember!
