I love a little international collaboration with players from across the globe and last week Italian shred king @francesco_marras_guitarist asked me if Id like to do a version of Iron Maidens, Lord of the Flies with himself and 13 year old wonderkid drummer @giorgio_biscozzi_drummer ... Ive never heard the song before and, apart from seeing the band live with Paul Dianno, I couldnt tell you what album came after Number of the Beast (until secret Tyketto fan and punk riffer Dave Robinson told me them all in chronological order) and cant play gallopy fingers a la Mr Harris but was up for getting involved... Francs even sang it and made a great looking video which will be available to watch tomorrow... Viva l`Italia 🇮🇹

Another pre-work rework. About time for some Todd, and a fav song from one of my fav artists. That guitar sound during the solo, my god. Many compressors must’ve been harmed in the making of this sound.

Another big favourite from Swoon. If anyone else is writing weird pop songs about renegade chess grandmasters I’ve yet to hear them.

Lunchtime fiddle.

Probably (but I can’t be sure) the only time I’ll get to play alongside Mark Knopfler.

All that stuff about the mystical sphere direct from Lhasa, chasing the dragon, people rolling in the snow. What does it all mean?!

For ages, @meadhbh_bh misheard Michael McDonald’s BV as ‘it’s the light in my arse’. Says more about her than MM, maybe.

Today had been a DAY, so an hour of continuing trying to nail this Anthony Jackson masterpiece of a bassline - which I’ve been going at on-and-off for months - was called for. There’s still a few details that elude me; times like these I really wish I could read the dots.
