FRAIM Freestyle: ANKHLEJOHN

We’re back with the third episode of our freestyle series, featuring Washington, D.C.–born and based rapper ANKHLEJOHN, who has been carving out his own lane in the underground for over a decade.

He has worked with artists ranging from Navy Blue and Rome Streetz to The Alchemist and Wiki, establishing himself as a force within a dark, gritty sound often associated with Griselda.

Get to know him before we drop his freestyle over a Freddie Gibbs & Madlib beat on Monday.

Scenes from the launch of the space between. This project was dreamt up as a space where artists can exhibits their work outside of the sometimes intimidating and hard to navigate “ gallery world “. The space between also celebrates the space / connection between art and music; and the importance of music in creating a warm, intentional environment.

Connections were made, art conversation were had, and many artists met new collectors. All to the curated sounds of some of DCs finest- spinning all vinyl.

Thank you to all the artists for trusting the process, everyone who helped and the 400 + people who stopped by - first event was a major success, I learned a lot and I can’t wait to share what’s next.

Stay tuned ❣️

Washington, D.C.’s The Whitelaw Hotel opened in 1919 as one of the most luxurious hotels available to Black travelers during segregation.

Built by Black visionaries including John W. Lewis and Isaiah T. Hatton, it became a gathering place for artists, performers, and visitors along the historic U Street Corridor.

Guests and performers included legends like Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway.
