These past two weeks I had the opportunity of a lifetime; being a part of a medical mission. My life is forever changed and I will never again be the same person I was before I stepped foot in the remarkable town of Coya, Peru. I don’t even have the words to describe my admiration for the people, the country, the culture, and everything in between. Not only am I filled with gratitude but even more a deep feeling of adoration. The kindness and hospitality that I have experienced throughout this trip is truly unlike anything I have ever experienced. Throughout this mission, I have fallen more and more in love with medicine every second. Having the opportunity to help these wonderful, underserved communities while doing what I love and am passionate about was so incredibly transformative for me not only as an aspiring doctor, but as a person. I truly could not be more grateful for the medical team who have taught me so much about medicine, but also about life. The doctors, nurses, and every volunteer involved in this campaign has shown me what being a genuine, empathetic person looks like. I look up to all of these people and I owe them so much. I came hoping to learn about medicine, but I left having learned just as much about compassion, resilience, and humanity. A piece of my heart will forever be with the beautiful people and country of Peru. #texasdeperu
