POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

1. Picking young green black walnuts from a very old tree.
2. This is a young green black walnut.
3. I’ve been wanting to make nocino for years, but never get the walnuts in time. This is vodka, walnuts, allspice, coffee beans, pine needles, vanilla, anise, fennel, lemon peel.
4. Had enough to make a fermented walnut syrup. The flavor of the nocino becomes dark and herby after its year of soaking, but making a syrup helps preserve the fresh citrus-y taste of the green walnuts.
5. Swimming places.
6. Black cap raspberries all over the place.
7. More black walnuts, peach leaves, and gooseberries.
8. Gooseberry jam! Tart, sweet, red.
9. Making a shitty pine syrup because all the cones were too high up.
10. But after a big storm a lot of them fell into the driveway and after this photo I added them and will have a real muglio once it all ferments together (40 days).
11. Fermented honey, pine, tarragon soda.
12. Happy 250th anniversary Katie and Daniel.
13. We planted garlic in the fall and it’s ready to pull every year around July 4th.
14. This is 1/6 of what we grew.
15. Made some garlic scape olive oil.
16. Saw a bear at Mavi Mantar, perhaps an envoy of the Whurzel King himself.
17. Bottomless blueberries.
18. A bruise from a bug bite is a blueberry.
19. The person whose glasses these are and the person whose leg this is are getting married.
20. Born in the USA

First Living Funeral Ceremony of the year! Join me at @krumvillecommunity on March 29th to be laid to rest.

A Living Funeral Ceremony is a guided, immersive meditation that invites you to confront your own mortality in a structured and supportive space. We will go through a reflective writing ritual and a facilitated death visualization. Participants are often left feeling a greater appreciation for their daily lives and a sense of peace around dying.

An altar will be set within the space as a communal focal point for reflection and intention. You’re welcome to bring a small object or photo if you feel called.

Tickets are only $50! Space is limited.

Let this be your reminder that the world is better off with more color, diversity, and flavor - always! Queer & trans rights are on the chopping board right now, as are human rights across the globe. Don’t let others fight this battle alone, start speaking up and doing what you can to make a difference in your community.

Thank you @sister.divines and @krumvillecommunity for hosting our Forage & Dye Workshop this past weekend! Jackie and I are grateful to everyone who came out despite the rain - we were able to gather in the screen house to create a dye bath with mugwort, weave seasonal colors on lap looms and enjoy mugwort cookies.
It’s always a joy to see the beautiful ways you all transform the dyed yarn, ribbons, and silk scraps—each piece a lil love letter from the land.
We’re looking forward to the next Forage & Dye Workshop! Join us Saturday, August 23rd from 1–3 pm for dyeing with Mulberry - location TBD

For the past three years, Jackie and I have offered our Forage & Dye workshops—and mugwort has remained one of our most beloved plants to work with. This year, we’re not just demonstrating how to create your own dye bath from foraged materials. We’re inviting you to step into the process more fully.
Yes, we’ll still gather mugwort and make a dye bath together. Yes, I’m definitely baking mugwort cookies for everyone (hehe). But this time, we’re also carving out space for you to create your own seasonal color story—something personal and guided by the palette the land is offering right now.
It’s one thing to know how to dye. It’s another to really connect with the colors of the season—to let them root you in time and place, to let them speak through your hands. That’s the heart of this offering 🌿💚

First in our summer series is the infamous mugwort! In this workshop, we will learn how to identify, forage and utilize it! We will also talk about ethical foraging practices, the invasive status of mugwort and the benefits of utilizing it as medicine. Although this plant can be a nuisance, it holds a very special place in many cultures.

Join us as we create a communal dye bath with mugwort we will be foraging on site. We will then experiment with silk scraps, ribbons, and yarn on your own lap loom to weave a textural tapestry - layering together naturally dyed materials to create a piece that reflects the landscape around us.

Each participant will leave their own small tapestry, an info packet with a materia medica and instructions on how to dye yarn on your own as well as some recipes that utilize mugwort that you can make at home!

Open to all skill levels!

Cost: $60

This workshop will be held at Sister Divine’s Farm in Olivebridge, NY.
