Photos from @loveliff 2026 screenings: Too Desi Too Queer at ICA; LAGAAN at IMAX - with Aamir Khan and British cast members; Britain Through South Asian Eyes shorts programme at Genesis - with filmmakers including legendary Alia Syed; and Aamir Khan in conversation at BFI Southbank.

Yes: THE Aamir Khan 🤩 It’s not every day we get to see one of the biggest film stars of all time and, in my opinion, the most important hyphenate film star of the 2000s-2010s. LAGAAN has never been my favourite Aamir Khan film, but it holds up SO well. Those 224 mins didn’t drag - popular Hindi cinema storytelling at its best.
Lots of interesting things in the BFI conversation, including his perspective on what we now call the Bollywood era, and the rowdiest audience Q&A ever! Slightly disturbing: Aamir Khan doesn’t watch films.

Alongside some lovely catch ups and Aamir Khan, film highlights included the shorts TARA (@lotusvisualpro), CUPBOARD PICKLE, AFTER EIGHT: THE STORY OF SATPAL RAM (@mos.hannan) and Darshan Gajjar’s wonderful tribute to his grandfather SHOP DADA 👏🏾

Thank you @caryrajinder @krushilcooks @notnajjrin 👏🏾✨👏🏾✨

A cinematic legend. A landmark celebration at the British Film Institute (BFI).

The London Indian Film Festival was honoured to welcome Aamir Khan to BFI IMAX for a special celebration marking the 25th anniversary of the Academy Award nominated Lagaan.

An inspiring conversation celebrating the enduring legacy of one of Indian cinema’s most iconic and enduring films.

I had the incredible opportunity this summer to work as the Festival Producer for the London Indian Film Festival (@loveliff). It was an immensely rewarding experience—full of learning, growth, and a deeper appreciation for the power of cross-cultural exchange and why understanding the world through diverse stories truly matters.

We showcased outstanding programmes that celebrated South Asian communities and proudly shared their stories with the world.

A huge thank you to @caryrajinder for trusting me with this role, and to @dharmeshrajput and @krushilcooks for their unwavering support in delivering such a successful festival. And of course, my gratitude to team, volunteers, filmmakers and sponsors to making this event possible.

Excited to turn the page and begin a new chapter—taking LIFF to the next level. Stay tuned for what’s coming next!

This is like a DREAM !!
2nd BEST FILM AUDIENCE AWARD in just 5 days.

Vinod Kapri’s “Pyre,” an intimate drama about an elderly couple struggling to survive in the remote Indian Himalayas, has captured the best film audience award at both the London Indian Film Festival and Birmingham Indian Film Festival, which concluded this week at BFI Southbank and Midlands Arts Centre respectively.

Can’t even express my feelings and love for you.
Special shoutout to the gang of #Uttarakhandis , who came to watch the film in their traditional “Pichaud”. ❤️❤️
and then there was this lovely woman who had unending questions about the film!
Love you friends.
