Happy birthday to our scruffy first born REGGIE!!
I didn’t realise life could get any better, but Reggie came along and showed us a new level of chaos and love and has enhanced our lives so much more than we could have expected!

Here’s a glimpse into my camera roll 🫣

It’s funny because before I was pregnant, I genuinely thought the big belly would be the hardest part of pregnancy but turns out that’s actually the easy bit.. I barely even notice it and am forever accidentally bumping things over expecting to squeeze between small spaces 😆
Pregnancy is such an incredible experience though. Feeling and seeing your baby kick is the most amazing feeling & I find it wild to think that my skin is currently housing two living people!

Every week my body changes and I find myself more and more amazed by what the female body is capable of. I never thought I’d say it but being kicked in the ribs from the inside is a sensation I’m genuinely going to miss!!

My brain has well and truly LEFT THE BUILDING so apologies for all recent interactions (and likely all future ones too..) pregnancy brain is officially in full force!!! 🫣🤦‍♀️
Every day involves an embarrassing amount of time looking for things I’ve literally just put down and I have lost the ability to remember names of most basic things (and ability to communicate).
All you can do is laugh and it’s definitely provided us with plenty of entertainment!

Fortunately Katie is excellent at reading my mind and translating my half finished sentences even when I have absolutely no idea what I’m trying to say 😆

Today I accidentally wore my pants backwards without even realising and honestly, I feel like that pretty much sums up pregnancy… Everything is uncomfortable & nothing sits where it it supposed to so I’ve forgotten what normal feels like 😆 (and apparently I have also lost the ability to dress myself 🫣)

Third trimester here we come!

Everything was going so well until we got to the airport and discovered I booked Katie’s flight under the wrong name (her legal name is Katherine btw) so after an hour on the phone and the airline kindly holding check in open, we managed to get on the flight. A couple of minor disasters later we thought we were in the clear UNTIL someone took our luggage from the carousel because it looked similar to his, leaving us with nothing but the Melbourne winter clothing we were wearing, in the Bali heat for the first day… so yeah the first 24 hours in Bali have been eventful but what else would you expect travelling with me 🫣

Top animal sightings so far (in no particular order):
- geckos
- Dogs that look like seals
- Squirrel
- Rough looking cats
- Roosters
- Banteng

Is it just me or does no one talk about trimester 1? What even WAS that 🫣

The first few months of pregnancy can be such a lonely time. You’re holding onto the most exciting news of your life while feeling awful but carrying on like everything is normal because you’re not quite ready to share it yet (just in case).
Grateful for everyone who knew long before they should have because I couldn’t keep it a secret 🫣😆 for looking out for me and accepting me however I came.. which was often tired, slow & with a forgetful pregnancy brain!

Pregnancy looks different for everyone and some people are able to continue with their regular routines but that’s not the reality for everyone which can leave you with a constant feeling of not being enough. Despite the exhaustion, I’ve been fortunate to have been well enough to maintain some running and participate in a few races- just at a much slower pace and embarrassingly heavy breathing from lack of oxygen!

REGGIE’S GOING TO BE A BIG BROTHER!! So happy to finally be able to share that our new family home wasn’t purchased just for Reggie! Baby Smuncan is due in December this year 🥰

Trimester 1 of pregnancy is no joke 🫠 The past three months have been challenging in ways I’d never expected but having my dream team, Katie and Reggie by my side through it all has made this one of the most special experiences of my life.

We’re sooo excited & feeling incredibly grateful to be in this position and thankful for our sperm donor who helped make it possible for us by providing the crucial missing ingredient we didn’t have ourselves!
