Award-winning work deserves a shoutout!

University Printing recently received the 2026 In-Plant Printing and Mailing Association (IPMA) Larry Clements Award in the Amateur category for a video produced by K-State students Miriam Fernandez and Carlos Avelino.

We're incredibly proud of the work these ANRC students created and grateful for their partnership on this project!

Have we mentioned how beautiful the trees are in Highland Park Topeka? According to “Highland Park History” by the Shawnee County Historical Society, published in 1956: “(Highland Park founder) Major Hudson’s wife Mary had rows of trees such as ash, catalpa, elm and box elder planted along the development’s streets.” Additionally, an 1887 ad for Highland Park (shown in a previous post) boasted: “Trees are Planted Every Fifteen Feet, Around each block, and will be cultivated and cared for without expense to purchasers for three years.” #topekahistory #highlandparktopeka #topekakansas #kansastrees #historictrees

Dear Kansas State University,

I can’t give enough thanks to this place and the last two years. Thank you for giving me a home away from home, memories I will cherish forever, and people who changed my life in ways I never could have imagined.

To my family, thank you for always supporting me and never questioning me when I asked to move so far from home. Thank you for believing in me every step of the way and allowing me to chase opportunities that led me exactly where I was meant to be.

These last two years have brought me so much growth. I have truly loved every second spent in the agricultural communications department and am so thankful for every class, lesson, and opportunity that shaped me along the way. Thank you to my advisor, professors, and the entire ag communications department for constantly supporting me, challenging me, and helping me grow into the person I am today.

To the friends who made these last two years so special, thank you for loving me, supporting me, and making Kansas feel like home. You are the kind of friends I have always prayed for, and having you in my life is something I will be eternally thankful for.

Lastly, I am excited to say I accepted a job that little me always prayed for. The people of the livestock industry have always had such an influential role in my life, and getting the opportunity to sell products for Purina, products I grew up trusting and using, is something I’ve always dreamed about and i’m proud to say I’m Wisconsin bound.

So, Kansas State, thank you for everything and everyone.

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat 💜

ACT, what a year it has been! Enjoy this project we’ve been working on!

Tomorrow I graduate from the greatest land grant university in the nation (my personal opinion).

I’d be lying if I said it was easy or that I passed all my classes with flying colors. I’d also be lying if I said I haven’t had the most growth in myself since coming the K-State.

To the faculty and staff in Umberger: Thank you. From my first semester and Dr. Ellis’ careers course in a small, packed classroom to Dr. J’s Capstone course with 30 minute long highs and lows discussions, you are the ones who made the difference for me. I fully believe your guidance and passions for these topics are why I am so confident in my abilities.

To the other 8 ANRC graduates and some that will be life long friends, thank you for being some of the best group partners (iykyk) and people I will never forget after this chapter!

Purple hasn’t always been my favorite color, but I’m damn sure proud to wear it💜
