Introducing Student Work Features, highlighting innovative projects and creative ideas from APDesign students. Our first feature showcases Flux, developed in Spring 2026 in Studio 801, a graduate-level industrial design course led by Professor Hernan Gregorio. Designed by Maxwell Weaver, Colin Culbertson, Tanner Sims, and Rafael Arita-Coronado, Flux reimagines the cycling power meter by integrating it directly into the sole of the shoe. By seamlessly tracking riding data, the design creates a more connected and consistent cycling experience. Through the full product development process, from concept to market readiness, this project demonstrates how industrial design can rethink everyday products through innovation and user-centered design. Stay tuned for more student work features highlighting the creativity and design thinking happening across APDesign! - - - Graphics by: Amelia Keen and the DIM Team

T-Shirt Design - 2026 @kstateiaid had a T-Shirt Design Contest, while mine did not win, I wanted to share the design anyway! The prompt was 'Designers Just Get It,' my idea was playing on a t-shirt design being the literal design of a t-shirt. It was a fun and quick project, would design again. I used illustrator to make the designs, and used ASOS shirt models for the images. The models are cropped out, since I did not pay them for their faces.

Poetic Functionality… …Grows from a passion of understanding material coexistence. How dow materials connect? Complement Each other? Contrast each other? Work with each other? A certain excitement is sparked when thoughts are provoked. StrataFlow explores this through simplicity and material honesty. Stacked Limestone pays homage to geological strata formations, and to the historic landscape from which they’re sourced. Dense hickory retains its mass through large forms, and mimics the movement of wood throughout its lifetime as it falls and connects to the ground plane.
