A Love Letter to Loyola Chicago 💌

How do you say goodbye to a place that became so much more than a job?

Eight seasons. Eight years of travel days, game days, practices, competitions, choreography, celebrations, setbacks, laughter, tears, and a thousand little moments that somehow became a life.

When I stepped into the head coach role, I was just 22 - fresh out of college myself, learning how to lead while still figuring out who I was becoming. Somehow, over those eight seasons, the Loyola Spirit Teams became one of the greatest teachers of my life.

To my athletes over the years: thank you will never be enough. Thank you for trusting me, our staff, and a vision that sometimes existed long before we knew exactly how we’d bring it to life. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, resilience, and, most of all, the laughs. The inside jokes, traditions, tears, hugs, and memories that could never fit on a score sheet.

It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to watch each of you grow - not just as athletes, but as people. You found your voices, became leaders, navigated challenges, and became people I am so proud to know. While I may have helped shape parts of your journey, you shaped mine just as much.

You remind me daily that the most meaningful wins aren’t always the ones that end with a trophy. Sometimes they’re the friendships that last beyond graduation. Sometimes they’re the little kids in the stands looking up at you, believing they can do it, too. And sometimes they’re simply the moments when we’re all together, laughing until our stomachs hurt.

To Loyola Athletics: thank you for taking a chance on a 22-year-old fresh out of college and trusting me with something I cared so deeply about. Thank you for giving me the space to learn, lead, collaborate, dream, and grow. A special thank you to Kieran Murphy and Brian Day for your support and belief in me and our program.

And to Pat Rocks, our Band Director and leader of the Band of Wolves - thank you for the collaboration that made every game and event feel like a true Loyola experience. There was something special about bringing our groups together and creating something bigger than any one tea
