The Silent Film Celebration on Saturday, June 20th was so much fun!

Kaysville Theater was the perfect location for this event. I honestly wish we had held it here all the other years. They have yummy popcorn. 🍿 🎥

I had 19 students participate. They provided the music for the film The Goat, featuring Buster Keaton. For one of my young students, this was his first performance ever! The music was timed perfectly, and the final chord of the final piece was played as “The End” came on the big screen.

I’m so proud of my students!

The Mini Christmas Recitals were so fun, and also a little chaotic, if I’m being honest. However, that sums up the Holiday Season perfectly, in my opinion. Everyone adjusted to the last minute changes spectacularly. I’m so incredibly grateful for my students and their families. Happy Holidays!

The Ensemble Recitals were amazing! I’m so proud of all of my students!

At the 2:30 pm recital, there were 17 pieces performed and 29 students who participated. There were three trios, four concertos, nine duets, and even one solo.

I love teaching ensembles for many reasons, but mostly because it is so much fun to play with others! I was told several times from parents that this is their favorite recital as well.

we hosted a valentine gift exchange!

there are a lot of ways to do this but here’s how we worked it:

@mandinelson_ and i each invited a dozen friends. i didn’t know many of her friends and she didn’t know mine. everyone knew someone but no one knew everyone! we also deliberately chose friends who lived close by. neighborhood friends who could feasibly continue their friendship in the wild ♥️ is there anything better than making connections and discovering new friendships as an adult?!

everyone made or bought 10 valentines - i brought my favorite drugstore red lips, someone else made homemade jam, we had crocheted hearts, loaves of sourdough, hand painted candles, watercolored paintings, bookmarks + a reading light, tea towels, chocolate candies, gourmet salt, and perfume. we didn’t put a price limit on it, but we made sure everyone knew to keep it simple! sky’s the limit. it’s so fun to see what people think to bring and how it reflects their personalities ♥️

after a bit of food and mingling, we introduced ourselves, what we brought and why we love it. you can go speed dating style and chat with each person to exchange gifts, or you can go wild animal style 🙋🏻‍♀️ and pilfer ten gifts from the table. we chose to keep the gifts at ten even though there were more than ten people on the invite list. nobody got everything, but everyone got ten things! and then it’s basically christmas morning with ten new prizes and two dozen new friends ♥️♥️♥️

we loved it so much, it’s tradition now.

One of the best campsites to date. We were all prepped to sleep on the ground and about to fall asleep when a giant spider and mouse convinced us to set up our tent in record time.
