SCORECARD - My friend (and frequent director) @jill_turnbow still gives me a lot of grief for writing such a long song. But I think @ktgooch88 made it all worthwhile with this delightful toure-de-force performance of a baseball mom who can’t remember the names of the other parents. This is performance footage (thank you @rylocallahan) from our production of WE'RE CANCELING CABLE (AND OTHER EMPTY THREATS) at @sloreptheatre in 2014. That’s composer, @mookiesdream, doing the marathon accompaniment. For any of you who struggle to remember people‘s names (at parties, in the aisle of Trader Joe’s, etc.), I SEE YOU! And it’s great to see you, um… buddy. 😬

The Passing of The Doll, an ancient ceremony where my grandPaula presents me to my interim protector and chariot driver Katie for the first leg of my new odyssey.

This respectful ceremony of transfer is crucial to how I shall haunt thee in the days, nay, centuries ahead.

ALL MY SATURDAYS - When we first performed “We’re Canceling Cable (and Other Empty Threats)” at the SLO Little Theater (now SLO Rep), we only had four songs mixed in with the sketches and monologues. We began the show with a scene about parents on the sidelines of a soccer game. It was funny but it was also edgy and dark and touching on adultery…and it kept the show from gaining real momentum until several skits in. Fortunately, we were invited to stage the revue a few months later as a PTA fundraiser. I worked with Mark Pietri to turn the scene into our fifth song, a true opening number. The results were gratifying: the audience ate it up and the show just killed that night. Sort of our “Comedy Tonight” experience. The cast only got to perform this song one time, but we recorded it a week later. Directed by Jill Turnbow and featuring Greg Gorrindo, Alicia Klein, Katie Gucik, and Nathan Emmons.

F$%CKED IT UP - They say Write What You Know. And in 2014, what I mainly knew was parenting. Correction: sloppy parenting. This was the closing number of “We’re Canceling Cable (And Other Empty Threats),” a full-on celebration (confession?) of how often I got it wrong. The video is a mishmash of recently discovered footage from our production at the SLO Little Theater in 2015, and a cast recording we made some months later. A fabulous quartet: Katie Gucik, Greg Gorrindo, Nathan Emmons, and Alicia Klein. Sparkling direction by Jill Turnbow. And a shout-out to Mark Pietri as the petulant pianist. 😉

happy new year 🌭
.
I started 2025 in Miami (not the best trip), went right into busy season, and right at the end, had to get an abscess surgically removed (talk about a literal pain in the butt). Legit a terrible start to 2025.

But then I turned 30 (new decade!!), and after the ULTIMATE birthday weekend in NYC, the year turned the heck around. I got promoted to Senior Manager at work (one more promo to partner!). I went to 10 Broadway shows, 2 West End shows, and 3.5 Jonas Brothers concerts (JonasCon doesn't fully count). I went on 10 trips, including Miami, Hershey, the Finger Lakes, Tampa, Scottsdale, London, and Nashville and Naples twice. I ate at more restaurants than I could possibly count. And if that didn't keep me busy enough, I BOUGHT A HOUSE, where I got to spend my first Christmas with my mom and dad.

I am so immensely blessed and thankful for all that 2025 brought me and looking forward to a new year and my next adventure.
