Last week, our team was in attendance at two different conferences working toward the same goal: a stronger, more connected Maui 🧡

At the Maui Beach Hotel, Dr. Bobbie-Jo Moniz-Tadeo, our Director of Early Childhood Education, chaired the @hooikaikapartnership Annual Conference. This year's theme, "E Ulu Ē, Growing Stronger Together," brought health and human service providers, educators, first responders and policymakers from across Maui County together to build pilina, share moʻolelo of hope and resilience, and talk about the self care it takes to keep showing up for our keiki and families.

Across the channel in Waikīkī, another team represented Imua at the 2026 @hawaiihta Conference, sharing our Pōhakuokauhi Ethnobotanic Garden, a project we're developing with the Community Tourism Collaborative initiative, supported by Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and @hawaiiancouncil. The garden will cultivate native plant species and create a place for visitors and kamaʻāina alike to come together, work in the garden, and build relationship with ʻāina, plants, each other and themselves.

Different rooms, different conversations, same heart: connection, care and community for Maui.

Board retreat, but make it a dance party 💃🏽🕺🏽

We spend a lot of time talking strategy, dreaming about the future, and thinking about how we can keep showing up for Maui’s keiki and families.

And sometimes, you just need to turn up the music and play! 😂

Because play isn’t just for kids. It helps us connect, recharge, get out of our heads, and make room for a lot of joy along the way.

We’re lucky to have a board that knows how to do both: do the work and have fun doing it! 💛

We kicked off this month with back-to-back Social Media coverage for two incredible events here on Maui 🙌

First up was the annual gala for Imua Family Services, a truly special evening dedicated to supporting children with developmental challenges and their families. It’s always an inspiring night that brings the community together for a meaningful cause.

The following day, we were back capturing the energy of Color Festival Hawaii on Easter Sunday. A vibrant, joy-filled celebration of community, music, and color, it’s one of those events that perfectly reflects the spirit of Maui.

This year also marks 10 years of working with @discoverimua . Not only are they an incredible client, but they represent a mission that genuinely makes a difference in our community. We’re proud to be part of their story

Kakizome - Japan’s traditional first calligraphy of the year, where we write words that reflect our hopes and direction for the year ahead.

My intention is to be unafraid to live in my fullest potential. ❤️

I was told that one’s calligraphy can tell a lot about someone’s personality. Sen said that I am soft, gentle, and kind. My feedback was to press down harder and have confidence in my lines.

In life, I always lead with so much kindness and care. This also tends to make me extra careful with my actions as to never cause harm or make mistakes. This also holds me back from stepping into my full power. I can’t tiptoe around and expect to be seen and felt in my full self.

This was such a fun and eye opening experience. If I can do it, anyone can.

Team Spotlight ✨K A T I E ✨

Katie is a multifaceted creative with a passion for color, movement, and storytelling. Inspired by the wild beauty of nature and the spark of authentic moments, she brings an eye for vibrant detail and a heart for community to every project she touches.

After exploring political theory, activism, and fashion design in her early years, Katie earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a focus on Diversity in the Law before making the leap from Colorado to the islands of Hawai‘i.

Her path into design and marketing began unexpectedly in 2012 while managing a yoga studio, where she found joy in crafting the signage, campaigns, and community connections that brought the space to life.

That spark grew into a full-fledged creative career. Since 2016, Katie has worked across industries—from car dealerships and restaurants to national nonprofits, local Maui organizations, lū‘au, sporting events, and music festivals. Since joining Cake Media in 2023, she’s especially loved amplifying the mission-driven voices of the nonprofits she partners with, blending strategy with storytelling to help their work shine.

Katie thrives when collaborating with organizations that uplift the collective. She’s at her best when she can immerse herself in their mission, build genuine relationships, and capture their essence through photography, video, and thoughtful design.

Outside of work, you can usually find Katie running Maui’s roads in marathon training mode, practicing yoga, hiking island trails, or nose-deep in a book on the beach.

We LOVE having Katie as a part of our team. @cakemediamaui wouldn’t be the same without her! 🍰

We were thrilled to provide social media management for @paddleimua for the 9th year running! 🌊✨

This incredible event brings together watermen and women from around the world to race alongside our local Hawaiʻi athletes and ambassadors—all to raise vital funds and awareness for Maui County’s keiki in need.

A huge mahalo to our @cakemediamaui team, Katie and Zoe, who ran point and brought the action live as it unfolded.

Congratulations to @discoverimua on another amazing year of impact and community spirit! 💙

We love what we do!
