The Nisei Week parade is this Sunday!
Just a little history about the Japanese car scene in SoCal and myself:
The Japanese car scene started at places like the Nisei Week Festival. Some think it started from the Fast and Furious franchise. But many say it actually started with someone in the Eastside that lowered and put wheels on a Datsun 510 back in the mid 70s. Others started to modify their Datsuns and then it started! Then people wanted to show off their cars to their peers. They started cruising the Japanese Buddhist church festivals and events like Nisei Week. In the 80s the Hondas came. I would see crews like @shorelineracing cruising and I knew I wanted a car to fix up after I got my license. Hondas were a cars that parents would let their kids buy because they thought they were nice economy cars. Little did my parents know I had FBOs and springs for my CRX before I bought it. My dad’s face was priceless 😡 watching me take apart a car I just bought from the dealer that day. My dad being a former Lions Drag Strip knew I had headed down a dark path of money pits 😂 In the 90s I went to lots of street races in Compton, LA, Ontario and Sylmar and the organized Battle of the Import series. Early 2000 The Fast and Furious came out and the scene exploded. It seemed cheesy to me. I had a family and got out of the scene for a few years. Then my buddy was selling his Evo 9 so I got it. It felt good to be in a “race car” again. Driving that car with FBOs and putting many miles on it I sold it and then got an Evo X. I met @photo_md at his meet and started helping him. It felt good to be a part of the scene again. I then reconnected with my old @shorelineracing buddy @dean_shoreline, he helped me so much in the 90! I needed up getting a R32 so I could go to the old school meets with the OGs! I’m excited because this year will be my first time showing a car at JCCS, but events like Nisei Week will always hold a special place in my heart. I want to thank my wife Martina @vivid_amnesia for supporting me over these years 🙌

Wanted to check the engine health compared to the Modena. It ended up putting out 50 more horsepower than the Modena.
