How would the world work if we saw it from our armpits, hips, toes? In CHIMERIA, a performance and documentary Shin Hanagata brings next week to the Ars Electronica Festival, Linz, dethroning the head is the first step in twisting free of the system. The Japanese artist spoke to writer and Pitchfork music columnist Kieran Press-Reynolds about being reborn as a chimera to feel life in the rawest possible way.
Link in bio, their conversation is now online!
Catch Shin’s performance of CHIMERIA at Lentos Kunstmuseum @lentoslinz at select times 9-13 September. I'm pleased to share that I have been selected as a recipient of the 10th Kuma Foundation Creator Scholarship. I'm truly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to the year ahead. It will be a pleasure to work alongside such an inspiring group of fellow creators. The Kuma Foundation has published its official press release and my artist profile on its website. I'll also be presenting the results of this year's work at the annual exhibition in Tokyo next spring. Thank you for your continued support.

-- Continuing from the 9th term, I was adopted by the Kuma Foundation again this year. If my plans go well, I think there will be an exhibition at the end of the fiscal year. I hope to create a place where you can meet my work in various ways this year as well. Thank you.
