Wow! It’s hard to believe it’s been practically a week already since we had the privilege of studying and dancing with @esmeralda_colabone in London!

It’s taken some time to process what was an incredible and soul-satisfying experience. Esmeralda is both a powerhouse of a performer and an incredibly gifted, inspiring and generous teacher ❤️

I still remember years ago when I first saw a YT video of her performing and my jaw dropped to see a dancer mesmerise an audience in the way she did.

I remember the first workshop I ever took with her in person at Danish Open Bellydance 2018. And my excitement when @kusdance brought her to London for the first time last year. It was a transformative intensive then…and yet this year was even better! The perspectives that Esmeralda brings, the anecdotes, the philosophy of dance, the challenge to move and interpret / embody the music differently, to play, to connect to the culture and see the interplay with other cultures… these all contribute to the rich experience that is studying with this queen. And one I highly encourage every dancer to seek out!

Thank you to @kusdance for organising this wonderful weekend, to Conrad, Carol and all the team. And for the wider UK Bellydance community who made this super special ❤️❤️❤️

It’s already been a week since the Esmeralda Colabone intensive weekend in London, organised by the amazing @kusdance ! It was such an incredible weekend; somehow even better than last year. So nice to see familiar faces, and learn from Esmeralda, who is a wonderful, generous teacher: one of the best I have learned from. The show on Saturday evening was also amazing: such great talent.

It's a (mostly*) none dance week for me! I'm attending the Language Documentation Summer School at L'Università degli Studi di Napoli L'Orientale 🤓 I've been massively neglecting my university studies during what's turned out to be a busy dance summer, so it's good to be back to getting all nerdy about languages.

*I say mostly because I'm also preparing for my performance this weekend in London at @kusdance 's weekend intensive with the amazing @esmeralda_colabone 😍 I'll be dancing a new piece that's... let's say, a little different to what you might have seen me do before 😝 There are still tickets available for the show at the gorgeous Jacksons Lane! Head to @kusdance for more info 😎

THESE LADIES SMASHED IT ♥️ 🔥

I’ve loved every minute of teaching these dancers over the past 5 weeks.

They learned a 4.24 minute choreography for stage.

This is the veil section. ✨

In 10 hours they learned:

- connection to baladi
- drum solo isolations
- veil technique
- footwork patterns
- layering shimmies
- dynamic combos
- hairography
- advanced movements
- a full stage piece (bar the exit)
- floor work
- musicality
- strengthening arms
- strengthening legs
- most importantly… they had fun 🤩

I think the video speaks for itself 💪

I’m super proud of these dancers and their commitment and for showing up.

Stay tuned for the next course this autumn….

Thank you @looloojaan for the fantastic filming ♥️🫶
