Today I join the backbone of the army, the NCO Corps. 🫡

Getting promoted is more than just another rank or another line on my uniform. To me, it represents the long days, the early mornings, the sacrifices, the mistakes I’ve learned from, and the commitment I’ve made to always give my best — not just as a Soldier, but as a person. I’ve always believed that your work ethic says a lot about your character. I want to be someone who can be counted on, someone who works hard even when nobody is watching, and someone who leaves every place a little better than I found it.

I’m proud of this accomplishment and grateful for everyone who has supported me and helped me become the person I am today.

But if I’m being honest, days like this also make me miss my family a little extra. I wish they could have been here to see this moment, to stand beside me, and to celebrate with me. There are certain people you wish you could call, hug, or look over at in the crowd just so they could see what you’ve accomplished.

Losing my grandma earlier this year has made moments like this feel different. I wish she could have been here. I wish I could have told her about this promotion and seen her reaction. I know she would have been proud, and I’ll carry that with me.

So today, I’m celebrating the accomplishment while holding a little bit of sadness in my heart. I’m proud of the person I’ve worked so hard to become, grateful for the people who continue to believe in me, and carrying the memory of the ones who can’t be here with me.

Here’s to the next chapter, the next challenge, and continuing to work for the person I want to become. ❤️
