Kyrae Dawaun’s #InPractice installation investigates concepts of nourishment and neglect through the materiality of homemade cereal and lead dioxide paint. Displayed on a countertop, Dawaun serves his own puffed wheat cereal recipe in fun-sized boxes to address the accessibility of healthy diet and nutritional literacy, in conflict with food inequality in our cities and nation. In conjunction with the exhibition, the artist made ten individual boxes available for purchase in the bookstore, furthering his investigation into accessibility politics, sustenance, and agency. Proceeds will be donated to New York City Food Bank.

Monsieur Zohore is an Ivorian-American artist based in New York and Baltimore. His practice is invested in the consumption and digestion of culture through the conflation of domestic quotidian labor and art production. Through performance, installation, and sculpture, his practices explore queer history alongside his Ivorian-American heritage through a multi-faceted lens of humor, economics, art history, and labor.

Congratulations 🎊 to MFA student Kyrae Dawaun for being included in an upcoming show at the Virginia Museumnof Contemporary Art• @ky_day_one
He says: “I am honored to have been selected amongst many artist to exhibit in the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art “New Waves 2020” exhibition!
The show opens March 21st- August 16th 2020.
I will exhibit a part of the diptych pictured above, “House, (Diptych)”
