September magic: Folegandros. Blissful feminine energy. Birthday suit swims, silent hikes & the salty Mediterranean Sea.

Let’s do it again, shall we?

One week spent on the magical island of Folegandros where my heart cracked wide open from so much beauty, love, presence, and moments I wish I could bottle up forever. So much more to share, but for now, heres to part I of experiencing Greece for the very first time.

on our last night in folegandros, we went on one of our many silent hikes, descending to yet another seemingly perfect beach. by this point, peeling off our clothes and swimming naked had become our default. i was toward the front of the group, so i entered the water before most, just behind the iconic @zojasmutny , who silently beckoned me away from land. i followed her out and into a cave, the sounds bellowing from somewhere inside the island like a scene from the odyssey. i swam deeper until finally putting my hand against the rock. it was vibrating. and i just burst out laughing.

i think it was the sheer ridiculousness of it all. the overwhelming reckoning that this was my actual life. that there could be this much beauty and magic in one place, one week, one body. that somehow this was only the latest in a string of unbelievable experiences. swimming through turquoise water to lunch like a mermaid brigade (my particular favorite, slide 2), descending from the sea to eat and then getting back in. walking silently across ancient land. dancing with women who had been strangers days before. looking up and around, over and over, thinking, are you fucking kidding me?

in the color purple, alice walker writes about how it must piss god off when we walk past the color purple in a field and don’t notice it. that maybe god isn’t only asking to be pleased, but is always trying to please us back.

what a thing, to be awake enough to the world to let it astonish you. to be carried by the water, charged by the land, placed in steady awe by the sky. to let beauty be so beautiful you have to laugh. to let joy be so big it almost hurts. and to experience all of it alongside women, no doubt the most powerful and divine force i know.

oh, to be in wonder
oh, to be in joy
oh, to notice

endlessly grateful to @tonyapapanikolove @rachelsaundersceramics @zojasmutny & @jessssleb for all you created and held for us. fole forever.
