Wow - What a whirlwind 10th anniversary! Still reeling from all the excitement, still buzzing from all the beautiful moments, still overcome with gratitude for all of our guests, makers, crew, @recordbar staff, business partners/sponsors and you! Kansas City, you continue showing up in your finest Bowie-esque regalia and helping us foster a safe, joyful space that’s inclusive to all, just as Bowie’s music has felt for many of us.

Here are mostly a few shots from @zimfo during weekend 1 + group pics from the final night. We were able to raise $4000+ for @ourspotkc and their continuing mission of serving KC’s LGBTQ+ community. Thank you for being a part of something that’s become very special to us and continues to grow every year. You’re wonderful!

Thinking about how wild it is that @bowiekcmo has been going for 10 years now. The last decade has also proven challenging for so many Americans who fear for their safety, watching their rights and even their lives being stolen from them in the name of tyranny and hatred.

Sometimes it feels silly to be promoting shows when the world feels so heavy. But I do know this show in particular has been a huge source of joy for myself, the band/crew and fans who come together every year. We give back to local organizations that do the real work to give voice and resources to vulnerable communities. We try to stress the value of live music and highlight the independent artists who create it year round, not just for an annual tribute.

I’m continually floored by the support we get each year - even when I have crazy ideas like doing two weekends. I’m so lucky to be surrounded by 30+ musicians, artisans and crew members who are all in it for the love of the music and the strengthening of community.

If you’ve made it this far, I’d love to see you at @recordbar tonight for our final [rescheduled] show. Here are some @zimfo pics from last weekend’s extravaganza. I’m so glad all of these people are in my orbit, and so many others not pictured here. Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of this over the years; it will always be one of the most meaningful things I’ll ever do.

A little peek of what happens between the sets. We’ve come to treasure these moments of gathering and glittering together over this last decade. Every January feels like a family reunion, and we love being able to share that with all of you. Hope to see you in a few weeks!

In the Studio: Plate-Spinning in a Vortex

Seriously—when did they make time faster? One moment it’s New Year’s Day and the next it’s a mad dash toward May. With four new tracks and four accompanying films in the works for our @greenwoodsocialhall show, the pace has become… ludicrous. But spring is arriving like a gift: the light returning, the moss glowing, the sap rising. It’s the perfect moment to create—if we can just grab the minutes before they vanish. The urgency is real. The ideas are wild. And somehow, impossibly, we’re still in love with the storm.
We were super honored to have @kyle_dahlquist come and add some magical brass parts to a couple of tracks. It was a wild day full of magical magicness!

After having some time to rejuvenate and reflect, we want to thank you all for making 2025 our biggest show yet! Thanks to you, we raised almost $5000 for @mocsakc, and we had the best time doing it!

Here’s our annual group shot - with our amazing 13-piece band, plus all the other folks who make this production possible - guest musicians, audio/lighting/video techs, @recordbar + artist staff/support, costume/makeup artists, and that still doesn’t encompass the whole crew. We’re so proud of what we’ve built over the past 9 years and appreciate everyone who’s bought a ticket, donated to the charities or offered to lend a hand.

We’re already brainstorming ideas for year 10. What would you like to see/hear? Stay tuned for updates throughout the year. YOU’RE WONDERFUL! 👩‍🎤⚡️💕

An array of band selfies and audience shots from the best weekend of my whole year for 9 years running. Over the 3-day wknd, our 13-pc band @bowiekcmo + 6 guest vocalists played 5 full sets of 90 Bowie songs total (many repeats but still), welcomed upwards of 950 Bowie fans to @recordbar and raised nearly $5k for @mocsakc.

This event means so much to me, and year after year I discover how much it means to those in attendance. The sheer talent on/off stage (big love to our tireless crew and RB staff) is integral, but the staying power comes from their generosity and eagerness to uplift our community. I truly love spending time with this group and am always in awe of their kindness and abilities.

However long we continue doing this, I hope it remains a space of creative inspiration, inclusivity and joy. Thank you for helping us make something very special. Next year — 10th anniversary! What would you like to see?

Another amazing evening with @bowiekcmo at @recordbar - their ninth year of paying tribute to #davidbowie. They did the #letsdance album top to bottom and followed it with banger after banger. If you can get in to see them Friday or Saturday, you should. Excellent from the first note to the final chord.
