This month marks 8 years of @freethewitness and oh my god, what a slow burn and wild ride it’s been so far! Swipe to see some of my favorite memories ➡️

8 years ago, I started this project with a totally different lineup. Then Covid hit, and after just 2 years, I gave it up. I found myself busking on the boardwalk every day to make money, longing for more. I tried out for bands as a rhythm guitarist, but I just wasn’t happy not fronting and steering a project myself.

I can’t deny it’s been a wild ride. 2 scrapped albums. 2 new works I couldn’t be more proud of & a viral frikken song?!I’ve had the privilege of working with some truly amazing people like @pete_steinkopf, @dimm_entertainment, @rob.chiarappa, @munkpunk_, @alexdh973, @kyle.brendle and the list literally goes on and on.

I’ve had the privilege of opening for my dream bands like NOFX, the Descendents, and Teenage Bottlerocket. But I still crave more. I still know that we have to reach the stars.

After touring extensively over the last year, I couldn’t be more confident about that. It takes a while to get to that point, and it also takes a whole lotta delusion. I can’t deny that I’ve thought about putting this project down a couple times in the past. This last year, especially, was very trying. But every time, I keep getting back up. Every damn time.

This project has very much become a huge part of who the hell I am and nearly every fiber of my being. Thank you to my family and friends who support the hell out of it. Thank you to my brothers @johnnyswitness, @thediamondwitness, and @brandonb_witness. I love you all so much.

Vegas will always hold a place in my heart.

Cheers to an incredible 8 years and many fucking more.

- Jake
