Sadly, the latest Sloboda Family Wild West Roadie has come to an end. It was a fantastic voyage that included a NYE rodeo w/ family in Klamath Falls, A quick but amazing dinner w/ great friends in Sacramento, two wonderful days taking in the sights and sounds of San Francisco, a gigantic win by our Seahawks, and a 14 hour marathon drive home through sleet, snow, wind & fog!

Day four was spent being tourists around San Francisco. We drove all over the city taking in views and pretty much eating our way through as many neighborhoods as we could. Day five started with an old school cross town trolley ride followed by a futuristic ride back to our hotel in driverless Waymo car….It finished with me driving straight home dodging semi trucks through winter storm warnings and mountain passes. Glad we made it all the way without any problems.

Final observations:
- Riding a trolley fresh off a manually operated turntable and then hopping into a driverless car is the closest thing to time traveling I’ve ever experienced.
- San Francisco is fun to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there.
- I love a good road trip, and we had a blast, but we sure missed having @xstan_slobodax with us. These kids grow up so fast.
- The Seahawks are really good…Hoping we get to make a return trip to the Bay Area in a few weeks.

Days three & four of the latest Sloboda Family Wild West Roadie were a blur. Friday we rallied all over SF from Chinatown to Fisherman’s Wharf and up to North Beach for dinner.

Saturday was Seahawks game day so we made our way south to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara w/ stops in Burlingame, San Mateo & Palo Alto. We packed in a lot but made it to the game in plenty of time. As you probably know by now, the Seahawks dominated the Niners to bring home their best regular season record ever, the NFC West Championship, the number one seed in the NFC playoffs, and home field advantage! LFG!!!

Observations:
- Eating at a restaurant called the Stinking Rose will make everyone smell like garlic for longer than you think.
- The hike from the sidelines to the very last row of the stadium isn’t bad at all. Especially when there’s no rain and your favorite team completely dominates their rival to lock up the best regular season ever.
- 49er “faithful” fans must’ve had somewhere more important to be on a Saturday night because a lot of them left early.

Day two of the latest Sloboda Wild West Roadie took us from Klamath Falls, OR to San Francisco, CA w/ a dinner stop in Sacramento to see our friends Brad & Carey Brozaitis….It’s a law that we meet them anytime we roll through their town. Not a ton of pics from New Year’s Day on the road so I added some early looks from day three. More to follow on that soon.

Day two observations:
- Adaptive cruise control is my favorite new car invention. I know some of you people probably have self driving cars already, but I don’t….So, while that might be cool, I know deep down you’re embarrassed to own a Tesla. I’ll take adaptive CC and save the world from another Tesla.
-There’s something special about longtime friends who drop everything on short notice just to hang for a couple of hours and pick up right where we left off, like no time has passed.
- The Tenderloin in San Francisco definitely isn’t a cut of steak, but it sure is raw! Yikes!

Welcome to the long awaited return of the Sloboda Family Wild West Road Trip chronicles! New Year’s Eve featured a drive from lovely Lakewood, WA down to the home of @obrieni02 & @obriendani for the 33rd annual Bullmania Rodeo in Klamath Falls, OR!

This event was everything we hoped it would be. A random (for us) but super fun bull riding bonanza followed by a live outlaw country band and some swing dancing. Seriously, a top notch way to end 2025 & welcome in 2026!

As always, a few observations before we hit the road for day two:
- This was, in fact, my first rodeo.
- I will never understand the desire to sit on a huge bull or bucking bronco while it whips around trying to throw you off, step on your face, and crush you. However, it sure is fun to watch other people do it!
- It should be mandatory for every band to have a fiddle player.
- The drive between Eugene, OR & Klamath Falls is full of beautiful scenery. Awesome lakes, snow capped mountain peaks, and endless views.
