This Saturday, go behind the curtain with two artistic leaders who have helped shaped the ballet world as we know it. ✨

Join choreographer John Neumeier and The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director Ashley Wheater MBE for a special conversation exploring ‘Liliom’, Neumeier’s monumental career in dance, and the process of bringing this sweeping ballet to the stage.

Meet the Artists is free with your ticket to the 2 PM performance of ‘Liliom’. The conversation will begin at 1 PM.

See you there!

Choreographer John Neumeier says his interest in “the outsider” is what draws him to dark stories—like “Liliom,” the 1909 play by Hungarian playwright Ferenc Molnár that inspired Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical “Carousel.” “Liliom” was first imagined as a ballet by Neumeier in 2011, for @hamburgballet, where he was artistic director and principal choreographer for over 50 years. Now, the @joffreyballet opens its 2026–27 season this month as the first North American company to perform “Liliom.” It runs September 17–27 at Chicago’s Lyric Opera House.

1978 called…they want their disco balls back! 🪩🕺✨

For one night, Cinespace became Studio Joffrey in celebration of The Joffrey Ballet’s 70th anniversary.

Our lighting and AV production turned saturated color and sweeping beams into an immersive world—one that felt as bold and expressive as the artists the night was built for.

Cheers to 70 more years on the dance floor!

Buddy Holly would have been 90 years old today 🎂

It is such an honor to celebrate his extraordinary life and career on stage every night. He was able to revolutionize rock n roll in his short 22 years, and we’ll forever be grateful. Happy birthday, Buddy! 🎸👓
