Hello hello! 💙 A well overdue update! Back in March, I wrapped up a beautiful community project with my amazing sewing instructor @thingssallymakes. We ran a couple of workshops teaching visible mending on totebags that were later used to make hygiene kits and donated to the downtown eastside women’s centre (DEWC). Together, we ended up hand-stitching and filling ~50 totebags packed with essential care items including period underwear, menstrual pads, cozy socks, shampoo, conditioner, and soap! I’d love to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who supported us by making these gorgeous totes and assembling the kits, and all those who helped behind the scenes - procuring items, driving me around and assisting during the workshop. For @fabcyclevan for the free fabric/materials used in these workshops. Special thanks to the Youth Small Grants program through the Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House for their incredible support and mentorship. And last but not least, a massive thank you to the Canada Service Corps for funding this whole project and making it possible!
