Denim Project: Nevermind the bollocks, here’s ARSE

Creating the English eagle and the English dream through ideas of anonymity and the punk movement.

500 feathers using upcycled denim that have been printed with the xerox effect of the earlier punk movement’s and hand cut and sewn onto a feather base made with @soortyenterprises denim

Jeans made with @bossadenim with hand painted eagle eyes so you can wink whilst you walk.

Hat made from real feathers that have been hand painted.

Another year of teaching Denim is over.

Sue Barrett and I always finish with Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London - 2nd Year BA Mens, Denim Project at the start of the summer.

Once again it’s been a superb set of students. And a Fantastic end to the year. This year marks 20 years I’ve personally been teaching denim design, and 6 years at Central Saint Martins.

Thank you Ike Rust, Louis Loizou and Sarah Gresty for allowing ( us ) Industry denim tutors to teach and mentor again.

This year each of the students was tasked with making one virgin fabric garment and one up-cycled piece from scraps and old samples, as well as coherent portfolios/ presentations.

Another academic year in the bag!

A special one. To my very first first years, you have been a part of my CSM journey from the very beginning. From watching some of you use a sewing machine for the very first time to now creating full-blown collections. I am so proud!!

You will be truly missed. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your journey. I wish you all the happiness and success in the world, and I can’t wait to see where life takes you next.

Look Two - Regularity - of my csm graduate collection, The Bird Dance.

The garments alludes a posture that is lent forward without changing the form of the human body. This creates a present serpentine line throughout the body, making the form more appealing to the eye.

Showcasing embossed cows leather, beautifully replicating the appearance of ostrich skin. Featuring a double ended zip and an asymmetric hem.

• Wool Trouser
An extreme drop crotch wool trousers with a concentrated bum roll gives an illusion of a Victorian bustle. Perfect for a peacocking modern day man.

Look Two - Regularity

Guided by Hogarth’s principle of regularity, the design incorporates structural balance to establish a sense of order within the silhouette. Symmetrical construction and rhythmic seam placemen reate visual harmony, while subtle variations in shape and movement prevent rigidity, allowing th garment to retain fluidity and dynamism.
