1 Year in Morocco - reflections:

It is a privilege to be able to choose your place in the world.
Not everyone has the freedom to.
And moving through any place as a privileged person,
comes with certain responsibilities.

It’s easy to forget that when you’re just passing through—
how your presence, your choices, affect people
who don’t get to leave.

I feel freedom here that others don’t.
I know I’m treated differently.
Because of that, I know I’ll never fully understand what it means to live here.
The world isn’t fair,
But the most beautiful thing
we can do is respect each other. Every day this country reminds me of the importance of kindness and selflessness.

This year has gifted me the people and the experiences I have always longed for. May God continue to keep me on the right path and to protect my people. Allow me to find meaning in both the good and bad.
