Day :11. Brussels Belgium. Yesterday, we took one last walk around Brugge. We stopped at Oliver for authentic Belgian chocolate. We stopped and took one last pic at De Garre before boarding our train to Brussels. After we arrived in Brussels we walked to Grand Platz. We walked to @deliriumvillage and had a couple amazing Belgian beers. I recalled the two beer tenders from two years ago. We stopped for food at one of our favorite spots and had a nice bite. This is when we learned the our flight home was cancelled. @klm is going on strike. At first this seemed like a God Send. Oh no we re stuck in an amazing city. Carla emailed and had phone called with our booking agent. Do we go home early? No! Do we go to Paris, Germany or London. Apparently trains might go in stone as well so that put Paris out of the question. Damn! And the. Getting to London and home was going to bee very pricey for 2 days. Lucky and oddly enough we were book on United to Chicago to Portland. Technically we are staying 2 extra hours in Belgium so I’m counting it at a victory. Bonus: The last pic is a sticker that I tagged two years ago. Hells yeah!

The Story behind our Festival of Dark Arts barrel-aged and blended Imperial Stout… While we were brewing Great White North for @bridgeandtunnelbottlesandtaps’ 6th Anniversary, we realized we needed to make some decisions on our blend for Dark Arts. We have imperial stout aging in Bourbon barrels, Port barrels and Moscatel barrels. Someone asked, “What could we do to incorporate the wine barrels?” Dwayne, a former grocery store guy, chimed in on the discussion with, “Do you guys remember GOOBERS - the pre-mixed peanut butter and jelly from the 90s?” YUP! That’s it. Our slightly estringent wine character from the Moscatel barrel could be melded into a more jammy flavor with the addition of some fruit. We tried grape, then strawberry… but landed on raspberry as the fruit that gave us the best essence of jelly. So now we needed peanut butter. We brewed a fresh batch of Shaquille O’tmeal for blending and leveled up this batch to Peanut Butter Shaquille O’tmeal with a no-nut natural PB flavoring. We blended the PB Shaq with the Imperial Stout from Bourbon, Port and Moscatel barrels for what you’ll get to enjoy today… ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE GOOBERS?! Finally, we told this story to Jesse at @tapped_roots_nw and he immediately whipped out a jar of GOOBERS that he uses regularly in his delicious stoner-inspired food menu in Longview! Welcome to the Year of the GOOBER.
