Grieving. Head down. Focused. Healing. 25+ hours of community service work. 50+ hours of Volunteer work. Served on the Gala Committee for American Visionary Arts Museum. ✨ Got to meet and honor Civil Rights Champion Dr John Carlos! Raised money for 4 orgs. Marched in Pride. Heartbroken. Moved into dream home. Durand Bernarr in Philly. Josh Johnson. Father’s Day 🥹. AFRAM. Patti LaBelle. BLAQ PRIDE FUNDRAISING! (LINK IN BIO) Minded my business, my babies, and my plants. Launched a new business. Minded my coin. Coin doubled. Fell in Love. Prioritized therapy and maintaining healthy boundaries. So much Magic. So many rituals. Reconnected with Soul Family. Read 3 books. Set up close friends on blind dates 🥰 ! Got back to the gym. I am so so so so grateful for my struggles and pain these last few months. We have birthed miracles together. Thank you. 🪷 Next, I’ll continue to work on my spirit and connection with my body. I’ll find one new volunteer outlet. I will build deeper friendships. I will have fewer acquaintances. Peace in my soul, smiles and laughs in my bed, good love, live music, time with my babies, and some solo travel for me. August ain’t ready. I am so grateful to be alive. I’m so grateful for the beautiful people in my life. I am so blessed.

This week we celebrate more than just history—we celebrate family. For the first time, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunties and kin from both coasts finally came together in D.C. to meet and celebrate Emancipation Day.

On April 16, 1862—months before the Emancipation Proclamation—President Lincoln signed the Compensated Emancipation Act, freeing more than 3,000 enslaved people in the nation’s capital. DC Emancipation Day reminds us of the deep roots of freedom, resistance, and Black joy right here in the District.
