First half marathon on home soil and I loved it. Had so much fun. It was cool seeing all walks of life getting after it.

My reflection from this event is you’ve got to respect where your fitness levels are at right now, whether you’re at your peak or just starting. Challenge yourself from where you’re at now. Avoid those thoughts of “I used to be able to run this.”

Also respect the event you’re doing. Every race is different and they all come with their own challenges. You just adapt and get it done.

Fuck all running training for this one due to a knee injury. So I went in with no pressure to hit a certain time or pace, but I didn’t want to go over 2 hours haha. Felt relaxed and enjoyed every km. UNTIL I hit the NOS button too early with 2km left and completely blew up the last 500m. Nearly fell over in front of everyone 😂😂

Personally, it was an awesome kaupapa to work on cos I’m sick of these gambling companies hitting me up to push out their paru to all our people when we already have enough to contend with without the extra temptation pushing us down.
