The final day started at a slower pace, giving me the chance to explore another passion of mine by checking out some of New York City’s great coffee shops and vintage watch stores before heading to the track.

Spent the day reconnecting with old acquaintances, meeting new people, and continuing to build relationships with coaches from around the country. Those conversations and connections are one of the most valuable parts of this opportunity.

I also made sure to take in as much of the incredible competition as possible. Watching the nation’s best compete and a reminder of the standard we strive for as coaches and athletes.

Grateful for an unforgettable four days of learning, mentorship, and new friendships. Looking forward to bringing these experiences back home and continuing to grow as a coach.

🏃‍♂️🏆✨Leading on a National Stage! ✨🏆🏃‍♂️

Whether analyzing complex literature in the classroom or fine-tuning sprints on the track, Ladue Horton Watkins High School English teacher and head track coach Nick Buckvar has spent his career pushing for excellence.

That relentless drive has caught the attention of USA Track & Field (USATF), which selected Coach Buckvar as one of only eight coaches nationwide for its prestigious National Championship Coaching Mentorship Grant!

As part of this elite national program, Coach Buckvar, a 2003 Ladue Schools alum, will travel to New York City for the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships, July 23-26. This grant provides him with a rare, behind-the-scenes opportunity to learn alongside high-performance programs, gaining insights into elite athlete preparation and complex competition strategy from America’s top professional athletes and coaches.

Coach Buckvar occupies a unique space in Rams history, holding the distinction of winning state championships both as a student-athlete and as a head coach. By continually expanding his professional expertise on a national stage, he beautifully models the qualities of a lifelong learner for our entire community.

Please join us in congratulating Coach Buckvar on this outstanding national honor! 🐏👏

Trading Ladue Blue for K-State Purple! 🐏 ➡️ 💜

Just one year ago, Delaney and Zoey Brinker (’25) capped off unforgettable athletic careers as Rams. Fast forward to today, and this dynamic twin duo is officially rewriting the NCAA record books as true freshmen at Kansas State University!

🏃‍♀️ Delaney and her 4x400M squad shattered an 11-year-old school record and brought home First-Team All-American honors!

👟 Zoey took a meteoric leap into the grueling 7-event Heptathlon, finishing the season ranked 35th in the nation! Both sisters credit the incredible coaches, staff, and "Ram Elite" family culture at Ladue for preparing them for the big stage.

I am incredibly honored to have been selected by @usatf as one of only eight coaches nationwide for the National Championship Coaching Mentorship Grant at the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships in New York City.

This opportunity will provide me with the chance to shadow an elite coach at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships, the premier track & field championship in the United States. I’ll be gaining behind-the-scenes insight into athlete preparation, competition strategy, communication, and real-time coaching decisions while learning alongside and from many of America’s top professional athletes and coaches.

For several years, one of my long term goals has been to become more involved with USATF’s High Performance programs, continuing to learn from the best coaches in our sport so I can better prepare my own athletes for opportunities at the highest levels. Over the past few years, I have intentionally challenged myself by presenting at coaching clinics across the country, recently accepting the nomination as Vice President of the Missouri Track & Cross Country Coaches Association, and pursuing opportunities to learn from outstanding coaches at every level. Being selected for this mentorship is a meaningful step in that journey.

I look forward to bringing new ideas, relationships, and experiences back to the @ladueramstf athletes I have the privilege of coaching and as part of the @ladue_schools community.

Thank you to my athletes, assistant coaches, mentors, colleagues, family, and friends for your encouragement and support. I can’t wait to get to New York! @ladueramstf @ladue_schools @oatccc @wistca1 @gatfxcca_ @utalkaboutu @ryan.banta @runcoachtripp @amnalehu @itccca @mo.milesplit @motrackfanatic

When competition wrapped up at Historic Hayward Field, we took some time to appreciate TrackTown USA and the legacy it holds.

We stopped at Pre’s Rock to pay tribute and leave a little bit of our legacy with his. #stoppre

It’s incredible to have the state champion in an individual event. It’s even more incredible to have the runner-up in that event. What’s even MORE incredible is to do it in TWO events. 400m + 200m = 36 points!!!!!

“Finishing right behind her was her teammate Murrary again, making them one of only two duos in the State to go 1-2 in two different events.” Kyle Deeken, @mo.milesplit

I am so proud of these two for their dedication, good old hard work, and consistent leadership & support of one another and their team. They have literally rewritten the Ladue Track & Field history books.
