THE PERFECT PROPOSAL💍

On October 15, Gillian received an email through her dance studio, reaching out to see if she would be available for a paid performance gig on October 25. The client was putting together a short film for South by Southwest (SXSW) to premier in the Spring of '26 in Austin, & they were looking for dancers to perform for a piece that would loop through red carpet events as they promoted the short film. Gillian does dance, modeling, and acting work all the time, so she was thrilled to have another dance credit under her belt for something like SXSW. She excitedly told Justin about it later that day, & when Gillian received a call a few days later asking to choreograph the piece too (as the film crew's choreographer dropped out), she was even more excited! Her birthday was coming up (Oct 24), & she'd get to perform the very next day - what a great weekend.

The film's synopsis was to be a timeless, classic love story, so the dance piece was set to be a lovely contemporary piece with three dancers total, and one rehearsal at the studio the week prior. Although she was told she could pick whatever song she wanted (the production crew would likely use the footage over different audio anyway), Gillian picked "Here Tonight" by Brett Young, because it really moved her as a beautiful love song and practically begged to have a dance to it. Justin loves to watch Gillian dance, & the performance was set for a Saturday afternoon, so Gillian asked Justin if he wanted to come watch the filming and hang out (as she also knew the studio owner & photographer would be there for the shoot, so he could hang out & chat with them).

The location was set for Mueller Lake Park Amphitheater in Austin, TX, for 2pm on the 25th. However, rain kept threatening the outdoor plans, so the time was pushed back to 5pm (which was better for golden hour lighting anyway).

My second time performing at world of dance and it was so magical! The love that I have for this team is so big. I sometimes cannot even fathom what my life would be like without them.
