I love talking to @lafrostman, though it doesn’t happen nearly enough, and I’ve been looking forward to this book since I first heard about it. I got an early copy, and it’s everything I hoped it would be- funny, deep, heartbreaking, and so well written. Get your pre-orders in now!

Novelist.

Writer of all the things but @lafrostman lastest gift to us all is his novel, BAD NEWS DADS.

@atriabooks // @simonandschuster

Set in #losangeles with characters I hang around a lot these days: baseball dads.

Congratulations on all the good news and success coming from your book! Couldn’t have happened to a nicer lad.

Maybe because I needed it more, this was the best Bouchercon I can remember. It’s so good to be in the world of books, with authors and readers and so many good friends. I genuinely think I do about half of my year’s socializing at Bouchercon. I would have liked to see more of New Orleans but glad I chose to talk to people, meet people, eat with people, sign books, say thanks and reaffirm that this is the world I want to live in more than Hollywood. As always, blown away to get to mix with all these great and kind and brilliant people. I guess I should say something cynical to temper all this but I really don’t have anything to say.

As usual I didn’t take nearly enough pictures at @boucherconworldmystery but I had a ridiculously good time. I feel so lucky to be welcomed into a community this kind, generous, and willing to stay up way too late talking about successes and failures and the writers we adore. Many thanks to all of you, you mean the world to me.

First Bouchercon since before the kids/COVID, and I had an absolute blast. Thanks to Team Bouchercon for inviting me as the Suspense Guest of Honor, and to @melizaabbott, who in addition to being one of my favorite writers is also an amazing interviewer. I got to drink a Vieux Carré at a rotating bar, ride a pedi-cab in a parade, reach my September calorie goal in five days, and enjoy some epic bons temps with friends old and new. I rolled into my 9:30 and 11:30 panels on the last morning in the commemorative T-shirt I bought at the fried chicken and daiquiri joint at 5AM. Proud to say I did Bouchercon to the max and will miss everyone until we meet again.

Bouchercon New Orleans is over and what an incredible time I had. That city is WILD. 😂 And spending all week with the best writers, the best readers, and the best friends anyone could ask for filled my heart with gratitude and joy. I’m missing so many photos I should’ve taken with others—that’s the only regret from this trip and I drank a shot of absinthe!

Adjusting back to normal life today after four days of Bouchercon and New Orleans!! Such a fun weekend, and such a whirlwind. Some highlights: alligator sausage, an amazing ghost tour, wandering the Garden District, spotting a black cat in Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, drinks at Columns, and the many, many birthday celebrations at Galatoire’s. Loved catching up with old friends and making some new ones. I feel so lucky to get to spend time with such an amazing group of writers, and I can’t wait until next time ❤️
