This weekend I attended a fundraising brunch in support of Dr. Carla Jackson for Akron School Board. I am honored to support DR. JACKSON not because she’s my sister/friend, but because she is QUALIFIED for the job! I’ve seen her leadership in action! I’ve witnessed her integrity and advocacy at work in the lives of students, families, and the community. She’s firm, which is necessary to set and uphold standards of excellence, she’s also compassionate. Akron deserves leadership with heart and backbone. She won’t be bullied, but she’s not a bully either! She’s a fighter! One I trust to fight for Access. Accountability. Achievement. Our community depends on your voice! Don’t be silent! Now through Nov. 4th, be sure to VOTE! #DrCarlaJackson #AkronVotes #CarlaJacksonForSchoolBoard #AccessAccountabilityAchievement #LeadershipWithHeart #CommunityFirst

10 years ago, Lady Geri's Warriors was established by 3M. This year, I decided to make the mile walk a personal goal. I've never been physically able to complete it in prior years. The date follows a family cabaret on 10/4, so this makes for a pretty cool weekend. My goal is to raise $100, mainly to avoid outright paying $100 for a t-shirt lol I'd make my own, but my GMa shirt I only wear when I'm feeling melancholy. Our team goal is $420 (April 20th, 1935, GMa would've been 90 this year). •JOIN OUR TEAM• •DONATE $10 OR ANY AMOUNT YOU PREFER• •WALK IN REMEMBERANCE OF LADY GERI• https://pages.lls.org/ltn/noh/Clevelnd25/LadyGerisWarriors Date of Event: Sunday, October 5, 2025 Event Location: Wade Oval, 10820 E Blvd Cleveland OH 44106 Parking Logistics: VA Medical Center Parking is available as well as street parking. No One Is Coming to Save You!: Learning the Lessons to Becoming Your Own Hero by L.A. Harsh ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 Stars This was the January read for From the Poodle Perspective, a book club that is hosted by my current sorority chapter. This read was extra special as the author happens to be one of our sorors 💙💛 She surprised us at our meeting this past Sunday and held an insightful Q&A in regards to her writing process and journey. I can admit I did not read the synopsis prior to diving in and I was 100% under the assumption that it was a self-help book, but it’s so much more. It’s actually a story of a woman that has to figure life out after discovering her husband has been having an affair. First things first, I’m obsessed with the layout of this book. To know me is to know that I love a good creative format. Each chapter was set up as a lesson. The author incorporated the perfect scriptures, quotes, and analogies which served as great reference points throughout the main character’s journey. Initially, I didn’t find myself directly relating to Imani’s situation, but I noticed that I slowly began receiving the lessons as the focus of the story shifted from the main character’s failed marriage to her personal journey of faith, learning her self worth, and growth. My biggest takeaway from this book is that things of yesterday can affect the things of tomorrow. However, it’s up to me to figure out how I’m going to navigate those things. I admired the transparency of Imani’s story and was 100% rooting for her to come out on top. There is a message in here for everybody. You will definitely receive from it what you’re seeking! - - #blackgirlsread #blackbookstagram #bookstagram #bookreviews #shortstories #blackauthors #healingjourney #sigmagammarho #booksbooksbooks #bookreview #bookrecommendations #andthatsonliterature
