One month postgrad, and it all feels surreal. Beyond that I feel so lucky to have called this place and these people home. My time at Chapman may have been limited to 4 years, but #pawsup is forever!

An overdue dump from the past six months.

I started 2026 with the sudden loss of my father—a 10-year stroke survivor and perhaps one of the biggest supporters and fans of my dancing. He was always the quiet, stoic one at every performance or rehearsal, never drawing too much attention, but always steadily present. How I miss him, especially with Father’s Day approaching tomorrow. And yet, how humbling it has been to move through this experience of grief with family and community that surround me.

To my @chapmancopa & @lagunadanceofficial dance communities—thank you for having my back while I was away, for celebrating @dr.robtsai.physio and my growing family. To the students, thank you for seeing me in my entirety as I navigated this loss, and for bringing some much needed joy during this time. To the Class of 2026—you have my heart—I believe in each of you to the core of my being and cannot wait to see all that you do in this big world.

I have always been in awe of my incredible mother, who was my father’s primary caregiver for the past decade. Despite this profound loss somehow continues to show up for our family—and particularly for our Rhysy Piecey—with unwavering love, strength, and grace.

What I am learning is that the closer your experience with death, the deeper you feel all that life has to offer. It is deeply emotional and, depending on the day, incredibly taxing. But perhaps that is ultimately why we are here as humans—to simply feel, experience, and be. As the waves of grief continue to roll, I hope I continue to keep my heart soft & open. Moved by all the love we have & continue to receive. How lucky we are 🫀

This past May I had the privilege of premiering my piece, Pleasure Trap, for the Spring Concert at the @muscocenter ! I am beyond lucky to have had the best support system including @stephanieliapis and @matsuyamatsai , as well as my cast of dancers. Looking back, I miss being back in the studio throughout the rehearsal process but am so proud of what we put onstage! Special thanks to @cristobaltapiadeveer and your team for graciously letting me use your music.
