‘Shadows Within’- Choreography by @morendaesol_

Being haunted by inner voices that say we’re not enough, rooted in fear and doubt. Facing those monsters, dancing with them, and transforming their power into our own.

So hauntingly beautiful and emotionally charged. These two dancers did such an amazing job portraying this piece, the photos truly speak for themselves.

‘Breaking the Script’- Choreography by @morendaesol_
This piece comes from frustration with the excuses society makes for harmful behavior, especially towards women and female presenting people. It challenged gendered expectations, allowed my cast to reclaim their power and celebrate womanhood, strength, and resilience.

I knew when I made this piece I wanted to center it around @jackalacalindo
She is one of the fiercest, kindest, and most driven person I've ever met. There has never been a challenge I've given her that she hasn't given her all to.

Purrrlesque, part 2: Daisies/Please Me and White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter

To @j.mart_12 - thank you for choosing me to be your duet partner, for believing in me (and supporting me, both physically and mentally 😅), and for always listening to my “hear me outs.” This duet has to be one of my favorite pieces I’ve had the joy of performing, and I’m forever grateful. 🙃

To @therapeuticartist- my bestie girl. Not only is it my greatest joy and honor to dance along side you in a show (FINALLY), but I am forever thankful you chose me to be part of White Feather. It was a true dream to be able to dance your choreography- thank you for trusting me to help bring your vision to life. I can’t wait to dance with you again soon (because you are definitely not retiring-least not from studio jams and classes, lol😉).
I love you with my whole heart, forever. 💗

Truly so so blessed to have been part of this show.
Already counting down the days until next year. 🐈‍⬛🥰🥳

‘Revolution’ and 'Born This Way'- Choreography by @morendaesol_

A call to change the system that decides who belongs in dance. This is about sparking a revolution for every body. Not just on the stage, but in every dancer and every audience member who chooses to believe and hope for a new, more inclusive future for dance.

Our bows/ending dance, a true celebration of styles and my dancers. At the end of every 'Defiance In Motion' show I gave a small speech, usually mentioning the other shows available to see as part of the festival, but also noting that this opportunity came when I was on the brink of quitting dance for good. And now I have the pleasure of directing my second show and being a part of an amazing community of creatives.
I can't thank @theatrecrudeokc or @meehertensteiner enough for their unwavering support❤️

‘Only Human’- Choreography by @morendaesol_
This piece is about carrying the pressure to be more than what we are, more disciplined, more talented, less flawed. A reminder that we are allowed to be human, imperfect, and still worthy.

This piece was truly a challenge, to create and to perform in, and my cast delivered. It was intended to be messy, raw, human. The stark lighting so no mistakes were hidden, allowing then to find beauty in the flaws rather than criticism.

This piece will be revived in my second show 'Becoming', depicting the mounting frustration of being a high functioning autistic person.
