What an incredible Back-to-School celebration! The Westchester Square BID would like to thank everyone who came out and helped make this event so special.
This year’s celebration was even more meaningful as we proudly celebrated the 3rd Anniversary of La Jara Band Way!
Three years of honoring its legacy and celebrating the culture, music, and community spirit that bring us together.
A huge thank you to our community partners, elected officials, local businesses, volunteers, NYPD, sponsors, and everyone who contributed their time and support. Most importantly, thank you to all the families and children who joined us!
Seeing our community come together is what makes Westchester Square so special. We are proud to continue creating events that support our families, celebrate our community, and bring our neighbors together.

On Wednesday, February 25th, we proudly celebrated Dominican Independence at One Police Plaza. Congratulations to all of the awardees. It was truly a special evening shared with many distinguished guests.

First and foremost, we thank God for the opportunity and for blessing us with a successful night.

Thank you Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch for hosting us at the one and only One Police Plaza.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the night extra special. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

A beautiful night filled with pride, unity, and the vibrant spirit of our Dominican heritage. May we continue to celebrate, uplift, and honor our culture for generations to come. 🇩🇴

Mi Gente,

On behalf of our Organization and Membership we mourn the passing and tremendous loss to the Latino & Hispanic Community of the Icon who gave the Trombone a voice.

Salsa giant Willie Colon defined over three decades of Hispanic and Latinos through his music which uplifted and cultivated his Puerto Rican culture and the urban Latin Jazz beats of New York City, NY. An original and pioneer of the world famous @faniarecords Willie didn’t just change Salsa; he expanded it, politicized it, clothed it and took it to stages where it hadn’t been heard before. His trombone was the voice of the people, an echo of the Caribbean in New York, a bridge between two cultures.

Like many Hispanic & Latinos we are truly grateful and blessed for Willie’s Music & the vibes that encapsulated family values throughout all of our households.

Gracias Willie. 🕊️🇵🇷

It truly takes special people, a strong team, and dedicated sponsors to make a lasting impact in our communities. This kind of support is what fuels our mission. As a former NYPD police officer, Dennis Carrion truly understands our mission and its importance. A heartfelt thank you to Dennis Carrion and 212-Carrion for believing in our vision and standing with us.
