Yoo we’re stoked to share sixth place at Cold Hawaii Ultra 100 miles!!!

162 km and 1650 metres of climbing, straight down the west coast of Denmark.

The gun went at 18:00 Friday. The first thing we did was run out into the last light of the day. Sunrise wasn’t until 07:03, which meant twelve hours of darkness still ahead of us.

We went out too hard. Faster than the plan through Tranum at 28 km, and it felt fine at the time. It stopped feeling fine the moment the daylight was gone.

The night was a long mental battle, and the climbing came with it. Steep, muddy trails around Fosdalen, Uglehøj and Svinkløv. The only real climbing on the course, and all of it in pitch black. The rain came and went on for hours. Not just drizzle but heavy downpours, like someone turning a shower on and off. We stopped chasing the plan and started managing the race instead.

Daylight came back around Vigsø at 100 km. It was a relief to be able to see more than the raindrops caught in the head torch. But the pain was worse than it had been at any point in the night… and now the wind was picking up.

At Nr. Vorupør around 138 km into the race, the course turned directly south, and the race changed again. Dunes and soft sand beaches all the way down to Thy, into a very strong headwind that never let up and kept us suffering for the last 24 km. Every step a fight. But it was the last one, so we switched off the brain and ran into Agger.

First 100 miler. Shared sixth place. 21:20:53.”
