Plastic Utopia – Work in Progress
An artistic project exploring the boundaries between costume design, sculpture, fashion, and ecology.
Inspired by the silhouette of an 18th-century gown, the costume combines recycled materials with prints depicting contemporary waste, reflecting on beauty, excess, consumerism, and the contradictions of our civilization.
The dress is just the beginning. A series of underwater and above-water photo shoots is being developed to explore its visual and performative potential.
The project is still a work in progress, including a photographic collaboration with Agnieszka Wójcik. The final results are yet to come.

The creation and production of the dress were made possible thanks to financial support from the ZAiKS Creative Support Fund (FPT). Artur Mazur-tailoring

For a long time, I let my images speak for me.
I was never one for big quotes or elaborate descriptions. I didn't need to say more. I still don't think people need to know much about me. But this is for those who want to.
Photography was my first love. Long before law school, corporate leadership, and traveling around the world, there was a Russian analogue camera my grandfather gave me. It was my first teacher in the art of noticing. Long before I learned to work with the fierce Mediterranean light, I trained my eye in the dirty, chaotic streets of the world. I learned to move fast. To trust my gut. Mostly, I had one thing going. I wanted to know my shit inside out. For the love of it.
I was a first-year law student when I discovered Amorgos in the '90s. The island took root in me, and I couldn't stay away. I kept returning until, eventually, I stopped and simply stayed. That's when everything fell into place. It took me years to finally put photography where it belonged.
For me, nothing beats the still frame. In a world that moves faster and faster, there is something rebellious about a single image that refuses to move. I know everything now has to be video. That's simply the language of today. But I'm Gen X. That's just not my game. And I don't care if that puts me out of trend.
Somewhere along the way, my work became centered on women, and today it gives me a great deal of satisfaction. Especially when my path crosses with women who are bold, magnetic, self-aware, conscious of their strength, and secure enough to be seen exactly as they are.
I don't like small talk. I choose carefully where I invest my time, energy, and attention. I don't flatter, and I have no use for being flattered. What interests me is what remains when performance ends. The kind of beauty that cannot be manufactured. The kind that has nothing to do with pretty smiles, expensive clothes, or professional makeup.
I value my time and my vision. I hold the trust of the people I photograph with the same seriousness. But I don't take myself too seriously.
I'm a junkie. For that rush that only photography gives me. After all these years, it's still the only high I never want to quit.
