Khor al Rimal

Ras al Milh, Al Wusta, Oman

2026

Guest house and boat house

A pair of curved shelters rest against pale boulders on the edge of a still desert lake at Ras al Milh, where morning mist lifts off the water and mountains stand hazed in the distance. The roofs curl upward like open shells, gold on their undersides, catching the low light and throwing it back onto the rock below. A boat waits at anchor and a lone figure stands at the water's edge, the whole scene held between the dune behind and the lake in front.

Designed as both a destination and a point of transition, this healthcare courtyard entry is intended to create a sense of arrival, comfort, and orientation.

Rendered using a combination of hand-drawn and digital techniques, this graphic illustrates how landscape architecture can bring together planting, shade structures, water features, seating, and intuitive circulation to support the patient and visitor experience.

Thoughtful outdoor environments can help transform a functional entry into a welcoming, restorative space that contributes to overall well-being.

Landscape architecture at its finest. Olwethu Ncayiyana here, we keep grinding and studying. Here i was studying trees species for the upcoming Plant Material Studies Plant identification test. These trees are not so easy to know quickly, but it is exciting to be studying these species and it will help a lot in my landscape design journey to know these tree species 🌳🌴.

Landscape architecture at its finest. Olwethu Ncayiyana, an aspiring Landscape architect. Here i was walking around the Cape Peninsula University of Technology looking at some plant species that are used around campus. There are some interesting plants and trees around the campus that are also fun and interesting to learn about. These plants bring an amazing appearance in the campus with all the radiant colors showing since spring is starting. More beauty will come 👌🏼✨️.

We learn to read buildings in detail.
We name the materials, understand the structure, study the light, proportion and every little detail.
But when it comes to nature, we often reduce everything to “greenery.”
A tree becomes just a tree.
A bird becomes just a bird.
A landscape becomes just a background.
But knowing the name of an Amaltas, a Kachnar, a Baya, or a House Sparrow changes the way you see them.
Because when you can name something, you begin to notice it.
When you notice it, you begin to understand it.
And when you understand it, you can design with it and care for it.

एक खूबसूरत गार्डन सिर्फ पौधों से नहीं बनता।
हर space की अपनी कहानी होती है —
☀️ रोशनी
🌱 मिट्टी और पौधों की जरूरत
📐 Space & proportions
💧 पानी और irrigation
🎨 Design & functionality
इन सबका सही balance ही एक well-designed landscape बनाता है।

Landscape at its finest😎😁. Future landscape architect Olwethu Sanele Ncayiyana 👌🏼. Here are a few of the drawings we have done with the intention of learning the Autocad drawing tool. It is a lot of fun to do and it is easy to learn, I've grown to be familiar with it and it is a very good experience. This tool is going to help a lot with elevating my skills in the landscape industry as a future landscape architect. Still a long way to go but I am learning each and every day 👌🏼.
