#JuliusCaesar isn’t the most cursed of Shakespeare’s #plays. That’s #MacBeth. It’s not about a mad king, like Lear. #EtTu however manages a melange of those 2 during a production.

Brent #LouDiamondPhillips is a regional #theatre dir on this production. He’s under a lot of pressure. His Brutus #BrennanKeelCook has a tendency to not use the prop knife, which leads to real stabbing, but his dad owns the theatre, which frustrates Brent, who prefers the understudy Terrence #AntwoneBrown, who IS more talented.

Now, this stage has a bloody history, wherein a dir & his schizophrenic twin mount a play. The latter kills his bro & replaces him, then starts killing off the cast & hoisting them into the fly space above.

It’s a tale told by Brent & he seems to take it to heart, when Marcus (Cook) accidentally gets stabbed. He gets to call up the understudy. But it just starts a cascade of problems that Brent solves via homicide. It didn’t hurt that he thinks his wife, Nadine #RachelAlig, is having an affair w/ Marcus. But he finds it easier & easier to off his problems, taking over their duties to do on his own.

The #film is a dark, dark comedy, wherein Brent’s insanity becomes contagious. Promises of something bigger (Broadway!) sucks in Terrance & his fellow understudy Margaret #IsabellaBlakeThomas into the insanity. The former even becomes complicit.

This is my 1st #movie of #HeartlandInternationalFilmFestival & it’s a banger. The #filmfestival started today for 10 days & is avail virtually. So, you can see this now too. You absolutely should! #movies #films #screeningoftheday #filmfestivals #screening #screenings #film #films #movie #movies #filmfestival #filmfestivals
