On August 29th, REPOSE in the sand. At 2:13, duet with the tide as it reaches its peak. Once at the edge of the water, hop side to side with each wave. Jump as high as you can and land sitting on the sand without using your hands. Lay in the surf and let the waves toss you from one position to the next. Crawl to a new location and lay down parallel to the crashing waves. Roll into the ocean. Get out of the water. Walk to a new location in the midst of a crowd, stand parallel to the horizon. Create different postures as you go from standing to lying down. Roll into the ocean again and again. “Jump Lounge Crawl” between Beach 86 and Beach 110 Street.

Join us this Saturday and Sunday (12/7-8) at @crevasse22riverhouse as we share the latest land activation in our Invisible Rivers project. This is an ongoing collaboration between us and @moniqueverdin, @sunpiebarnes, Jeff Becker, @laniereene, and @peterjbowling. This weekend you’ll be invited to witness and co-create this performance that explores how we live in symbiosis with our increasingly watery world.

Tickets are available via the link in our bio and more information can be found on our website: www.mondobizarro.org. Tickets are pay-what-you-are-able and free food will be provided after the show. Seating is very limited so make your reservation today.

As a primer for this weekend we invite you to check out the essay and visual artwork of our collaborator and co-producer Monique Verdín entitled “Cancer Alley: Istrouma to the Gulf of Mexico.” Monique’s striking collages will be on display as part of Invisible Rivers. A link to this article can be found in our bio.

Join us this weekend out at the Crevasse River House in Saint Bernard Parish for a sharing of Invisible Rivers.

Invisible Rivers is a collaboration between Land Memory Bank and Mondo Bizarro. The project uses the creative practices of music, digital storytelling, theater, cultural organizing, curriculum development and boat-building to physically model ideas about how we can learn to live with fluctuation, to live with uncertainty, to live in symbiosis with our increasingly watery world.
Invisible Rivers creates activations that respond to the unique landscapes where they are hosted. Join us on January 31 - February 2 for a creative mix of music, food, storytelling and a land walk among the trees and waterways surrounding Crevasse 22/River House, where the project has been in residence for several years. These land activations will feature collaborativley created work from Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Jeff Becker, Joanna Russo, Melanie Greene, Monique Verdin, Peter J. Bowling and Nick Slie.

What: Invisible Rivers
Who: The @landmemorybank & @mondobizarroproductions Where: Hosted by @crevasse22riverhouse
When: January 31 -February 2, 12 PM
Length: One-hour w/ free meal to follow
Tickets: www.mondobizarro.org

"Organic Matter"
Choreography by Melanie Greene @laniereene premiered in New Orleans featuring The Newcomb Dance Company @tulanedance

Music: "The Big Galactic Rondo" by Louison (Magnetic Feel, 2022)

Melanie built a fascinating story following the 10 min-long tune. Little motif repetitions and variations are matched by body moves and interactions.
Dancers are like molecules/cells/atoms, just like instruments are entities - interplaying yet independent.

Check out my artist things on @laniereene

I wear many hats including dancer, choreographer, writer, art policy advocate, and organizer. I’m grateful to be a practicing artist because it informs and builds so many skills necessary to be a real estate agent including creative problem solving, curating many moving parts, ushering a project from start to finish, and of course dreaming big.

Much love 🫶🏾 to all the artists out there building worlds and continuing to figure things out.
